Questions about Monarch

Recommended Posts

We are booked, for the first time since 2001, on Monarch for a short cruise in August. Can anyone tell me:

does Monarch have a Martini Bar, like Celebrity ships do?

was she really just refurbished last year?

how "formal" will dress be on formal night? (love to dress up)

where are the worst cabins on the ship? (booked an inside guarantee!)

where does the Crown and Anchor host/hostess set up?

are there three levels of dress---casual/smart casual/formal?

Thanks in advance for help.

No separate Martini Bar, but you can get a martini at any bar. Try Boleros and the Schooner Bar.

She had a little spruce-up in October 2008 when she arrived from the west coast.

Not very. Some people will dress up, but you will be fine in "dressy" clothes instead of "formal" clothes. There will be people who aren't even in "dressy" clothes, and no one will keep them out of the MDR.

On the other hand, if you WANT to dress up, you won't be alone. Go for it. ;)

Interior cabins on the Monarch are TINY. They are 119 square feet, and the storage is not very well done. The oceanview cabins, although only 3 square feet larger on paper, are better laid out and have much better storage.

No safe in the interior cabins - there is secure storage at Guest Relations. I suggest, however, that you just lock any valuables in your suitcase under your bed.

LA is on Deck 7 at the Centrum.

There is no smart casual - just casual and the one formal night.

I am on deck 3, porthole. Will there be a safe and a refrigerator?

Just curious!

I don't think there will be either but I could be wrong.....I don't think they have refrig on Monarch unless you are in a JS or better....but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong....:)

Thanks, Karena. I don't think I realized that the SOV cabins had a fridge and a safe. In that case, I guess I'll bring my 6-pack of pineapple juice along (to put in the fridge, not the safe) ;-)
