39august Posted December 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2004 Just curious. Last week on Grand there was no one on the pier-side beach in the morning before we left for Majahual, nor when we returned. I kept looking through the binoculars off and on for a couple of hours. Not a soul. Has this beach been closed? A year ago I spent a couple of hours there( in the off and on rain!).
txfirstcruiser Posted January 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2005 I can only guess that no one goes there because it is so rocky. The shores and into the water in Majahual are so much better being sand.
pnorth Posted January 4, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2005 I sure hope not, I wanted to snorkel there! Please let us know if the beach is closed.
jean-lynd Posted January 4, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2005 When we were there there was a sandy area to the right (as you are coming from the ships) of the long pier that was closed off so the only way into the water was on the left side which was very rocky. We did snorkel there but getting in and out of the water was a challenge. Not a lot to see but some interesting fish. I saw a flounder for the first time and that was fun. I hope this helps! davidaperryman Posted January 5, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2005 There is a rocky beach on the left side of the pier and a sandy beach on the right side with what looks like some buildings behind the beach. It looked like it was closed off by a fence and not accessable (sp). I thought it was a resort area gone bankrupt.
Beach Boy Posted January 15, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2005 The beach isn't definitely closed. The reason why you didn't see anyone is because, as everyone says its extremely rocky. Regarding the beach on the right side, it belongs to a particular who used to have a restaurant that was accessible from the terminal. I overheard the owners of both places had differences and today there's a high wall blocking the way.
