cruzisme Posted December 22, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2004 :) can anyone tell me where the cruise terminal is in SF? If you only have a few hours in SF, what is the best way to spend it? I have already been to F. Wharf Alcatraz the Bridge, the Park, etc. thanks!!
Ine Posted December 23, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2004 We embarked Mercury on Pier 35, next to Fisherman's Wharf, so very easy to find. Only the buildings are very old, little facilities. We like Chinatown and also Soma, near the Convention Center. Nice restaurants, nice shops. Of course Fisherman's Wharf is perfect boarding going to the ship. Enjoy and have fun. Cruise_More_Often Posted December 27, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2004 Depending upon how many ships are in town when yours is, you could dock at Pier 30-32, which is on the Embarcadero south of the Bay Bridge. This was the case on a couple of summer days 2004. Here's a good map of the area. (Give it a little time to bring up the pdf file; it's worth it.) Walk down Fisherman's Wharf to the Hyde Street cablecar ($3 per person). The ride from there to Union Square is absolutely fabulous! Great shopping (and window shopping) in Union Square. From there you can walk a block or so to Market Street and hop on one of the Vintage streetcars ($1.25) and take that back to Pier 35. Don't miss Coit Tower, which is fairly close to Pier 35. Beautiful views from the base even if you don't go all the way to the top. SF is great fun!
