Any smoke-free cruises?

I think we are going towards more non smoking venues in all aspects. If enough people request it Cruise lines will become even more restricted

I would like no smoking in all cabins and balconies and a large non smoking casino area

Maybe one day .....

That day is here (at least partially)!

Celebrity cabins AND balconies are totally non-smoking!:)

Oh Dear Lawd... here we go again. I'm surprised OP didn't know the answer, with as many posts on CC. I honestly am not trying to be mean, but these threads are so frequent and get so heated, the drive me bonkers. Sharecruises (or whatever) will be here before we know it reminding us how things are a changin'

The question is if smoking threads bother you so much:

Why do you read them?

Why do you post to them?

And a question for all you smokers and smoke lovers.

Why are so so afraid of any change in the smoking rules?

Why do you tend to flame ANYONE who does not support smoking?

No flames here but I don't believe anyone is "afraid" of changes as smoking limitations have gone about as far as they can given the fact that the US smoking population is about 20%. Money talks so the cruise lines will never totally ban smoking. They would lose the smokers plus a lot of groups. "I predict.";) But when some posters go on and on and on with their predictions of how the future will be,it gets a bit funny and rather boring.

Do you think thre number of smokers will drop in the future?

Will the number of smokers rise?

Will the number of smokers stay about the same?

If the number of smokers drop in the future wonder what that will do to the number of smoking areas onboard?

IMHO well over half of all folks who post to Cruise Critic smoking threads are smokers.

So the responses will always be the same.

It's why the few non-smokers on Cruise Critc should keep posting

In spite of all the flames and personal attacks.

Some ships are doing smoke free nights in the Casino, so watch you Caper to see if they offer it.

I wish they would make the piano bar smoke free. I can't imagine the piano players like all that second hand smoke either.

Unless the piano player smokes too. I wonder how many flight attendants developed lung cancer from second hand smoke before they changed the policy on planes?

I know what you mean, we would have to walk by Cleopatra's on our way to dinner on the Fantasy last month and it was always so smoky that it was horrible out in the hallway!! If it was that bad in the hallway, I can only fathom what it was inside! And it's not like Cleopatra's has this huge door open to the hallway, either. I would love to enjoy the piano bar, but not at a cost of dying from an asthma attack (which I'll add, was attributed by my physician to the fact that I grew up in a house where both parents smoked like chimneys [18 years of exposure], since there have been no other exposures that would have caused the asthma to develop).

Now, in defense of the smokers, on that same cruise I did not experience any smoking in areas where it was disallowed and we just walked around the other side of the ship to get to the dining room to avoid Cleopatra's.

It is a well known fact, OP, that smokers spend much more on alcohol and gambling than non-smokers so I don't think you'll ever see Carnival going to that model again. The lines that restrict smoking so severely as to make it virtually impossible to do so make their revenue in other areas (most notably they cost more to begin with) and as such, don't need that added revenue from alcohol and gambling sales, per se.

A questions:

Do you have any facts to back up "smokers spend much more on alcohol and gambling than non-smokers"?

Do the smokers out here think they spend much more on alcohol and gambling than non-smokers?

I still wonder why if smokers spend much more on alcohol and gambling than non-smokers we don't have all smoking ships.

Maybe an all smoking Cruise Critic group cruise.:D

I did, that's why I asked the questions.

Wonder why people never want to respond to what's posted?

Lets try this again:

If smokers really spend much more on alcohol and gambling than non-smokers why we don't have all smoking ships?

It just keeps on getting funnier and funnier, do you really believe what you write or do you just have a lot of one liners saved somewhere that you randomly insert on this board?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Yes, I believe what I write.

I try to stay on topic and not just flame other posters who don't agree with me.

Why not just answer my question?

No need to be rude, just reply to what's posted.

Happy cruising to you my friend.

For the same reason there are no all non-smoking ships. The whole idea is to fill the ship with passengers. Excluding a group of people for any reason leaves open the liklihood that the ships won't be full.

There is plenty of room onboard a modern cruise ships for both smokers and nonsmokers. If there were money to be made by changing the policy, it would change.
