cruiseaddict05 Posted July 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2009 Can shareholder OBC and/or future cruiser OBC be used for gratuities? I thought I read somewhere that with one you could and the other you could not? Thanks!
firefly333 Posted July 19, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2009 Yes, it says cant be used for them or gambling, but in actuality all expenditures are subtracted from any OBC

PlanoDebbie Posted July 20, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2009 Actually, according to the Carnival website, you CANNOT use the shareholder benefit towards your gratuities or casino spending. Here's what you will find on the Carnival website regarding shareholder benefits. "The benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2010 aboard the brands listed below. Certain restrictions apply. Applications to receive these benefits must be made prior to cruise departure date. This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. This benefit is not transferable and cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account. Only one onboard credit per shareholder-occupied stateroom. Reservations must be made by February 28, 2010. Please provide your name, reservation number, ship and sailing date, along with proof of ownership of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc shares (i.e., photocopy of shareholder proxy card, shares certificate or a current brokerage or nominee statement) and the initial deposit to your travel agent or to the cruise line you have selected. http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_files/irol/14/140690/shareben.pdf
firefly333 Posted July 20, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2009 Thats why I said it SAYS it cannot be used for gambling and tips, but in actuality it is used for them. I have used it for tips myself, so I can say for sure it can be, no matter what it says. (just proves again, you cant believe what Carnival says are the rules).
