How Much Would It Take ????

It seems that everybody wants to get on the extra charge band wagon. Even AMEX now has some goofy charge if you want to pay with touch tone phone. The GM Master card has an extra charge for "express" payment if your pmt will not reach in time using normal procedures. I usually pay both of those when I get my statement on the computer within a few days in full using the EFT. Even my local pest control service wants EFT, otherwise, a $2.00 extra charge for extra handling. Since I don't trust that outfit that much, I just eat the $2.00 every quarter.

Happy holidays....

JDee- LOL, isn't that the truth! It seems everyone wants to bill to credit card or have an automatic debit from checking - both of which make me nervous... I don't mind online bill pay and we usually pay our credit cards online as soon as the charges posts... but as soon as all these companies start assessing charges for the "convenience" of these transactions - it will be back to the stamp & envelope for me!

There must either be some sort of exemption for old people or a little angel watches over me and makes sure I don't get any of these charges because God in his heaven knows what would break loose if anyone started this nonsense with me.:D So I've not seen any of these add on charges all of you are talking about.

Ruth, you definitely have a point. And I happen to be much like you in that certainly in the Caribbean I'd be happy just to stay on the ship. Unfortunately, DH doesn't feel that way so I have to hoist myself off to see what I've seen so many times before.

And I think I agree with you in part because the more we have to pull out that card and sign something, the less like a guest we feel. I think it's that "guest-like" feel that adds much of the ambience.

No, actually, you don't! ;) You are allowed to stay on the ship and enjoy yourself while he goes off galavanting.

You're married---not joined at the hip. :D

On our first Alaska cruise my husband wanted desperately to go fishing, and he knew there was no way he was going to get me to go along. I wished him a good time, but he couldn't get past the idea we were supposed to do things together.

There was something I wanted to do, and I knew he wouldn't like it, so after much "encouragement" on my part he decided to go after salmon (caught three of 'em, too! he was so proud.).

Worked out well from there on out. :)

"Supposed to do things together" are the key words here. Words DH utters almost every single day. I'm so independent now that I have to give in sometimes so I do. And for that I get my rewards:o . You have to pick your battles if you know what I mean;) . But I'll give it a go sometime and we'll see what happens! As it is he just told me he wants to drive down to Miami this Sunday. I said "be my guest" and wished him a great day:) .

So called marketing models that executives and pitchmen push on the consumer will just make the savy cruiser protest with their feet.

How much will each of you put up with depends on your past experience cruising and perception of value by today's market. Keeping in mind that everyone takes a cruise for a difference reason and anticipated experience.

The DW and myself are ready to find something else, of course, after our upcoming ms Oosterdam cruise and the free one (7-day Bingo win) from our last ms Westerdam cruise.

We already spend a majority of our year traveling in our small RV, racking up 55 K miles in two years. Having just bought into a new RV resort in Kerrville, Texas, will change our RV experience.

Now, just to find that perfect Casino that lets us win.
