What does it mean when the cat 8A doesn't show up anymore on the web-site? Does that mean the category is sold out? We booked a Balcony on 8A at a great price for the Liberty on April 10, 2010...and now when we look at the web-site 8A category does not appear anymore....starts with 8B? Is that now the min category anybody can book?

I just check travelocity and they had several 8A cabins available for the april 10th Liberty sailing - approx $1680 for 2..... Not sure why there would not be showing up on the Carnival site? (Is that where you were checking?)

yes we are looking on the Carnival web-site.

Hmmmm sure would be nice if they wanted these cabins back and offered upgrades !!!!! It's a LONG time away yet....maybe we can hope.

How do they decide on who gets upgrades anyway? We have been on 5 other Carnival cruises and haven't rec'd one yet......we NEVER just book a guarantee though....always choose a cabin.

Looks like 8A no longer available at early saver rate but 8A's are available using fun select option.

I think the OP is missing this post .... I suspect you are right. Iv had this happen, where they sold out most of the category ES, and kept a few for fun select higher prices.

If the category still shows up under fun select, then its not sold out, just would have to pay more to get a 8A.

OP if 8Bs are available, Im not sure why Carnival would upgrade you out of your 8A? If they cant sell enough 8Bs, they could lower the price and get more too book them, or put a senior price or some resident discount.

Upgrades for the most part go to Gtys. You may be called and offered an upsell though.

It seems that 8A cabins are still available - it is the EARLY SAVER category that is sold out now (for 8As) and not the 8A cabins themselves (as there are still available under other categories!)

Thanks for clarifying my response. :D

I think they are saving the 8A's that are still available to offer for a lower price when it gets closer to sailing. You can choose an 8A but pay a lot more than for an 8B, 8C, 8D, or 8E. Right now they are pushing the higher categories.
