Thomson Pearls of Aegean & Adriatic 14th August

Hi we are off next week on the 2 week Pearls of Aegean & Adriatic 14th August - anyone travelled recently and another person wanting to know if it is cheaper to take out the all inclusive package which looks something like about £350 each per fortnight - think this is quite expensive per person for 14 nights - anyone know if this is good value or not.:)

That's a hard one to answer as it depends what, and how much, you like to drink. We just had 2 weeks on Calypso, and didn't spend anything like that much on drinks. But neither of us drink spirits, just wine, beer, 1 or 2 cocktails a day, a few soft drinks, dry martini!

We found a bottle of wine lasted 2 nights in the restaurant. Certainly didn't stint ourselves, but we like to spend time ashore, and always had a couple of drinks then. (usually bought a bottle of wine ashore for pre-dinner consumption in the cabin- very cheap, but don't forget the corkscrew!)

Another option is to carry duty free spirits for a drink in your room before dinner, or stow a cask or two of red wine in your suitcases. If you like a few drinks during the day as well as at night you could build up a large bar bill. The drinks on this ship are quite reasonable compared to other cruise lines similar to UK pub prices - not wetherspoons prices however!!!

Its generally thought that the All Inclusive package is not worth it at the full price, as each passenger in the cabin has to buy it.....the drinks are very reasonably priced on Thomson ships so you really would have to go some to make it worth your while as of course you will be off the ship alot of the time anyway!!!!!

Thanks to all of you for replying I kinda thought myself we would have to get a bit blotto to spend that kind of money on booze for a fortnight - we will take a corkscrew and buy some wine on our shore excursions - only 7 days can't wait.
