Yes you have been upgraded by 4 cabin catergories.

Have a good cruise I think you will like Ventura we certainly did.

Not necessarily.... it depends on what deck was your JG cabin was on....

All balcony staterooms on Ventura are essentially the same: the same size, the same layout, and (broadly) the same facilities. Some have additional (pullman) berths, some don't. All have a balcony. They differ in being on different decks, and in different locations on a deck. Theoretically cabins nearer midships are better because when the ship is pitching, the amount of movement is minimised amidships and maximised at the bow & stern, but in practice in normal weather Ventura doesn't pitch, and in bad weather she'll roll as well as pitch, and midships rolls as much as any oher location on the same deck.

All that said, there is one group of balcony cabins that are better than the others - the ones on C deck. This is because they have twice the amount of balcony space. The cabin is the same size but the balcony depth is twice normal. In addition, half of the balcony is sheltered and half is in the open sun.

There are some JG cabins on C deck. If your JG was on that deck then you're actually worse off with the move to Riviera deck. On the other hand, if your JG cabin was on B deck then you're no worse off. Whether or not the switch counts as an 'upgrade' is up to you to decide.
