computerg33k Posted August 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2009 It takes quarters only. I believe it was $1.75 for the washer, the dryer was $1.75 or $3.00 and $1.00 for detergent.

The dryer runs a REALLY long time for your $3. I only needed about 30 minutes, and there was an hour left for the next person.
Hondu Posted August 11, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2009 We use the W/D on the Splendor only 2 weeks ago and definitely put $3 in quarters for each load to wash and dry. Certainly was convenient and cheaper than those lines that refuse to provide self-serve laundries. I was also happy to be able to iron my dress shirt for elegant night. Thanks Carnival. CRUISING71 Posted August 11, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Thanks...Now I need to run to the bank and get a roll of quarter, just in case. What about "Laundry day"? I heard it is $ 10 a bag...does that include tip or tip is extra? Thanks, Tibbie

Two of the dryers were $3.00, one was $1.75. These machines were located on the 7th deck.
hunnypot1 Posted August 11, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Does the Elation also have laundry facilities? It would be great to do one load mid-cruise and pack less stuff! :)
Rare Essiesmom Posted August 11, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2009 All Carnival ships have self service laundries. Quarters are available from customer service. EM
BlueJacketsFan1 Posted August 11, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 11, 2009 I'm sorry but I just don't get it. I would rather over pack that to have to do laundry while on my cruise. So far it hasn't been a problem. My wife and I have over packed for the last three cruises.

Look at it this way, I don't care for laying in the sun for any portion of the day or all day, but I get that many people enjoy it. Some of us like to travel light and do a load in the self-serve laundry. This was the first cruise[out of 23] I took one suitcase and paid $15 fee to the airline. I have no need to overpack and pay the airline more. As an added benefit, we used self-disembarkation because each of us had only one bag on wheels. Talk about about convenience, Huh! Last year, our family did a 17 day land trip to NYC, Philadelphia, and Boston, with only two large suitcases *TOTAL*. Much easier to move about that way. Oh, and we booked our airfare for that trip before the airline started charging for baggage, so we technically could have brought 10 bags for free. But I can not imagine traveling with so much stuff. hunnypot1 Posted August 14, 2009 #17 Share Posted August 14, 2009 Hi, I was reading your cruise history. Why is your RCCL "Next Cruise" useless? After selling "Next Cruise" options touting how they were combinable with other discounts (including coupons for platinum members), RCCL stopped combining them. Many other offers are more favorable than Next Cruise now. They should have grandfathered the Next Cruises purchased before the change. Now, I select cruises based on itinerary and price, with no clear advantage to RCCL. If I happen to find a better deal utilizing my Next Cruise cert at RCCL, I will do so. But so far, it isn't looking good. :(

We noticed an issue when we booked our Spring RCCL cruise when the website we were going through had a great deal but we couldn't combine them. We wont ever purchase anything like that again on any cruiseline!

We wont ever purchase anything like that again on any cruiseline! Me too. I feel cheated by RCCL. We also bought two, but used one before the change (10/08 Monarch of the Seas). So now we are basically "stuck" with one totally useless Next Cruise option. Thanks for nuthin' Royal Caribbean!!!

2TNCruisers Posted October 27, 2009 #23 Share Posted October 27, 2009 I'm sorry but I just don't get it. I would rather over pack that to have to do laundry while on my cruise. So far it hasn't been a problem. My wife and I have over packed for the last three cruises. Though I never would have planned it, we did laundry for the first time on our most recent cruise last Dec. on the Splendor. We'd gotten back from an excursion and I had a large "grease" spot on my shorts that I couldn't get off with our Tide pen. In the time it took both of us to lounge on the balcony for a few minutes, shower and dress, the laundry was done...it was nice not to have so much to do when we go home. Not saying it will become a routine, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
