lovewine Posted August 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2009 Any suggestions we are in port from 10-6. We would love to see places other than Cannes (maybe Monaco or Nice). What is open on Sunday? Any tour companies that anyone has used?
Rare teacherman Posted August 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2009 We were in Cannes on a Sunday. We always plan one or two ports to simply relax. Cannes was one of those. We tendered in and then walked "up the hill" throught the old town section. We found a beautiful old church and enjoyed some of the service (standing in the back). There was a small prk with beautiful views of the coast for picture-taking. We then walked down the hill and strolled through the shopping area where we found a few shops open for souveniers. We ended up at the Carlton Hotel (listed in "10,000 Things to See Before You Die") and enjoyed a glass of wine on their patio for an hour, or so, and watched the "beautiful people" stroll by. It was one of the nicest days on our 18 day cruise. WE don't feel it is necessary to leave every port and go somewhere else. But some people do. To each their own, but it was a great day with many pleasant memories. Whatever you do, it will be great.
Rare Hlitner Posted August 24, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2009 The best place to go on Sundays is St Paul de Vence, where everything operates on Sunday. This is also the place that many French visit on Sundays. If you do a search here you will find a lot of info on the village and information on the various options to get to that village.
