How many formal nights on a 7 day cruise?

It has been a while since we have sailed on HAL and we usually do longer cruises. How many formal nights are there on a 7 night cruise? How formal are folks these days on HAL? What is the dress on the other nights?

Usually 2. Anything goes with the wardrobe.

The two nights are usually the 2nd night out is the Captains welcome dinner and the second last night is the Captain's farewell dinner. On my Alaskan Cruise of last June the Master Chefs dinner was the last evening. Hope this helps.

"Evening dress falls into two distinct categories: Formal or Smart Casual. Smart Casual can be defined as slacks and collared shirts for men and casual dresses, slacks and informal evening wear for women. T-shirts, swimsuits, tank tops and shorts are not allowed in the restaurants or public areas during the evening hours. On festive Formal evenings, ladies usually wear a suit, cocktail dress or gown and gentlemen wear a jacket and tie, dark suit or tuxedo. There are approximately two formal nights per week".
