alabama ghost Posted August 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2009 You might do a search on each board for a specific port , i.e. Halifax, in the Canada board, and see what you come up with. There have been lots of posts with various information on the Canada and New England boards. We're going on the Crown on Oct. 13 from New York to Quebec City and are doing the following: Newport - on our own, going to The Breakers using public transportation Boston - on our own, either the Ducks or HOHO, possibly Freedom Trail Bar Harbor - Oli's Trolley to Acadia National Park Halifax - Ship's excursion to Peggy's Cove Sydney - Ship's excursion of Sydney and coastal areas Saint John - on our own, perhaps city transportation tour Saguenay - Ship's excursion to Chicotimi (Spelling?) Quebec - great walking city, ship's excursion for overall view If you do a search on the threads I mentioned before, you can see what interests you. Good luck! Last Sept we enjoyed a similar cruise when we were on the Caribbean Princess(and we were on the Crown for a Caribbean Itinerary the year before) This is what I wrote about our Canada/New England Cruise. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=849213&highlight= We did not go to Quebec or take the train to Montreal. We too booked this kind of last minute so had to figure things out quick. I'd be happy to answer any questions. You'll have a great time!
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 27, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2009 In Boston take a tour on the Freedom Trail. Also, take a Taxi Cab and visit the John Kennedy Presidential Library. Bar Harbor. Visit Arcadia National Park Providence. Do the Cliff Walk, Visit the Breakers Mansion and walk around the charming town. Qeubec. Get off the ship early and visit the town before it gets too crowded. If you like to walk there is a nice fort to visit and a beautiful park. Keith
cruisinnewfy Posted September 18, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2009 I think Alabama Ghost nailed it. In Newport we are also going to try to get to the Tennis Hall of Fame. In St. John we are trying to go to Hopewell Rocks but that is a 4 hour drive round trip, but it should be scenic. (I live in Los Angeles, so 4 hours on the road is no big deal. :)) Halifax - Peggy's cove and then the city and maybe the Fort. We are also taking the train to Montreal, but only staying overnight. Bar harbor - we are going to try and use the public buses to get around. Wish us luck. Boston - we are going to walk the Freedom Trail and go to Cheers. (ok I'm a tourist.) Have a great cruise.
