Vancouver Airport -- Tips for Navigating

Recommended Posts

Next year, we will be arriving in Vancouver one day prior to our cruise. Will we receive any forms on the plane that need to be filled out prior to our arrival in Vancouver? After we step off the plane do we need to go through Immigration? Any tips on how to get through the lines quickly? As of right now, don't know the exact time we will be arriving -- all I know it will be a Thursday.

Many thanks for your help.

Before you land, the cabin crew will give you customs and immigration forms to fill out. Simple stuff, are you bringing in commercial goods, liquor greater than the duty free allowance etc etc. Fill it out, stuff it in your passport, and dont worry about it.

When you get off the plane, just follow everyone else and you end up at immigration, hand him your passport (and form), and they probably ask you a couple of questions, but it's simple.

Then you grab your luggage, and just before you exit the luggage area, the customs person will ask for the card you filled out on the plane. Again, 95% of the time you'll just get waved through.

What is the duty free allowance for liquor brought into Vancouver?

Here is a link to the form that will be handed to you on the aircraft, it also provides information as to what you may bring in Canada duty free; you may bring in more but what you will find is that by the time duty and taxes are added it is cheaper to purchase the goods in Canada.
