  1. Our final dinner. soring rolls , sweet and sour shrimp I had the banan custard and Deb her first baked Alaska and our staff said good bye to an Indonesian song and for the record, our favourite eine
  2. Our tout also included a visit to the market. Beautiful cheese shop (I got my curd), pastries, smoked meat, cider, flowers, etc and delectable sweets. Leaving Quebec taken from the sea view pool.
  3. this church is massive and so beautiful, sadly the congregation has declined and cannot afford the maintenance so it sits empty, 😔 circuses have bought some of the churches and practice and perform in them. anotmher original house except the garage of course. loved this mural telling the story of Samuel de Champlain.
  4. Can you envision using these steps in winter? Or even clearing them off? rhe original warehouses for storage from the ships still being put to use yes people really use these stairs - a lot!
  5. It’s a beautiful city hotel Frontenac rising above all very old area. Houses rebuilt after the wooden ones burned down long ago. no wooden balconies permitted and metal roofs for fire as well, the oldest church in North America according to Gilbert had to take the obligatory oicture 😉♥️ one of the original houses still standing next to the huge architecture
  6. We made a stop and Gilbert knocked at the house next door and the door next to it was unlocked for us to go in. a delightful surprise, a furrier who made furs by hand - new and recycled Our guide this is one of the old storage rooms from centuries ago being put to use.
  7. Quebec…. original spot where the sips would come. A lot of Quebec had to be filled iin, the owner of this establishment discovered some of the old fortifications and kept them preserved. definitely go in here for a drink and see more of them. Our guide raced about it. The typical wooden shutters. Many places are built of brick or concrete after so many wooden homes were destroyed by fire
  8. Someone was wrong. Ship is 25 years old later this year. I believe she is scheduled for drydock this year-or so I was told, sorry to hear about your cold cabin 😞 cabin 7008 was cold too - quite sure it was due to the doors being misaligned, That is a Neptune suite 😬
  9. thanks. The foot nurse has told me my skin is too delicate and to come to her in the future, to clarify, if it is a bone infection, they create sores outside,. It was the podiatrist who said it was burned and put me on the wrong path. My doctor did not argue when I emphatically said I would not return to her and only deal with the foot nurse, I guess we will find out soon enough,. Hope fully the antibiotics are not too late 🤞
  10. Good morning and thanks to Rich, Roy, Vanessa, Ann, Debbie & Dixie. Sleep eluded me last night with the pain so the Fleet Report got posted early this morning. If you can’t sleep you might as well get up and hope you can nap later 😉 Well, I’m on enough antibiotics for a horse and hoping and praying that they work. I confess to being worried and scared. An X-Ray is scheduled for Thursday (you know it’s urgent when they get you in right away) to see if there’s anything else but mostly to rule out osteomyelitis (bone infection), referral for cat-scan, vascular surgeon & other stuff depending on how the foot responds to the antibiotics and X-Ray results. I probably won’t post a lot here other than starting until I have something good to say. No point in whining about pain and sleeplessness from it. Prayers for all who need them.
  11. Just got off the Volendam (sister ship to the Zaandam) and had a Neptune Suite. The verandahs on both these ships are the largest of any Neptune suites in the fleet. The rooms are the largest. The only step down is the bathroom which has been pointed out but it’s not the end of the world. The dressing room area is certainly large enough to comfortably do your hair, makeup, etc. TV is on the wall, like the other ships, interactive and can be watched from the bed and the corner of the couch or on the chairs facing it. One thing to keep in mind on this class of ships is that there are few Neptune suites so the service is more personalized in the Neptune Lounge. There is no need to put your key card in the slot of the door to get into the Neptune Lounge. Just open the door. The concierge knows who everyone of her/his guests are. If you check the beginning of my Live thread, you will see how very helpful the concierge was to the “Merry Widows” when catastrophe struck with my firend’s luggage handle and my walking stick. I’m not saying you wouldn’t get the same help on the larger ships but I do think it was attended to in a very personal manner and very quickly. while the Volendam and Zaandam don’t have Tamarind or NY Pizza, they are cooking for fewer guests and the food in the MDR was very good to excellent except for 2 things. You will see the same crew and passengers which is a nice experience IMO.

  13. The page is the same whether you are Canadian or American. 😉. the states and provinces it is not available to is at the bottom of the general information page on CPP. HAL’s CPP is not available to residents of B.C. Or Quebec and cannot be purchased if you live in those provinces. If you reside in any of the others you may certainly purchase it. The states and provinces it is not available in is listed on this page - https://www.hollandamerica.com/en/ca/plan-a-cruise/pre-post-travel-cruise/cancellation-protection-plan Hope this helps.
  14. Thanks very much everyone. As soon as I told the receptionist the foot nurse’s concern, I had an appointment. She is well known and respected (doctors refer to her regularly) and I fear my poor doctor lost a few minutes of her lunch hour as she was running late. I am on a double the maximum dose of antibiotics and they do tire me (which sadly means there is infection). there’s a lot more and now I am worried. thanks all for your caring ♥️ Vanessa @JazzyV I am so sorry to hear about your BFF. 😞 Prayers. 🙏 @Seasick Sailor yes, you are correct. DD DH stands for Dearly Departed Dear Husband. it’s not on the list of CC acronyms to the best of my knowledge. I probably created it. The list that used to be there which was a huge help to me when I was new to CC has long disappeared.
