Question regarding Chania and Mykonos

We are contemplating a cruise in October on the Constellation which calls on Chania, Crete, and Mykonos. Does anyone have any information as to whether the ship will dock at these two ports or are tenders used? Thanks in advance for any information or advice?

When I have stopped at Chania, the ship docked at Souda port, a short distance away. There are local buses to Chania and some ships also run a shuttle.

Mykonos can be either a tender port or ships can dock. I think there are only two spaces for docking, so it may be a case of "first come/first serve..." When you tender, the tender takes you right into Mykonos Town. If you dock, you can take a local shuttle for a few euro, take the looooong and uninviting walk (no sidewalks, dusty), or I understand there's also a boat that shuttles people from the pier into town for a fee.

FWIW... we sailed on Reflection last year and a few years back which stopped both times in Mykonos and only Chania this most recent trip.

Both times for Mykonos, it was listed as a tender port but we docked north of Mykonos Town instead. However, other ships did tender right into Mykonos Town.

We too docked at Souda and had to bus it to Chania.

If the port calendars are available, it probably wouldn't hurt to check if other ships are in port those days

Much the same as others have posted - Mykonos may be docked or tendered. IIRC we were due to dock, but chose to tender because of wind or tide.

Because the port is a couple of miles away and the excellent tender service (local boats, not ship's tenders) takes you right to the town harbour, this is one of the few destinations in the world where tender is better than docked

Thanks for the answers. Can anyone recall that if you tendered in Mykonos, were the ships life boats used or were local ferries used? Also, was it a short ride from where the shipped anchors to the dock where the tenders come in?
