cruzn buckeye Posted August 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2017 I am booked on a Premier Cruise and was considering changing cabins. I was told that if I changed cabins that I would lose the promotional rate, since that particular offer had expired. So, my question is... have you ever received an upgrade or upsell call on a cruise that was booked at a Premier rate? Or have you ever gotten a free cabin upgrade upon embarkation? I'll be fine either way... but would kind of like to be in a bigger cabin. Someone will probably respond to always book what you will be happy with. I am happy with my cabin and location... so there is really no problem. Just checking:cool:
Port of Tampa Posted August 10, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2017 I was able to have the Players Club move me from Suite to a Grand Suite once. But received the same response you got the past few times I did try to relocate or upgrade. I did receive an upsell offer once and called they said that would not effect the Player's Club offer...I decided not to take it so not sure if it really would not have wiped out my Player's Club offer (Premier Cruise). I'm happy with my OV but just wanted to "see" however I quickly dismissed it because the Premier offer is no longer showing up and just didn't want anyone screwing up my cruise, since the timing finally worked out for me to take my first premier cruise. Alabaster Cruiser Posted August 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2017 We took an upsell on one premier. Kept all the perks but had to go to casino host to get all the stuff that would be in the room. The host said that if the change of rooms are in less than a week from sailing then dou cards and welcome onboard goes to the old cabin number. Not a problem getting replacements. Someone got a nice pair of coffee mugs but would have been unable to use our dou cards. Sent from my VK700 using Tapatalk
DallasGuy75219 Posted August 11, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2017 My one and only visit from the upgrade fairy happened on a Premier cruise. Got a call directly from Carnival (unrelated to the Casino) less than a week before the sailing asking if I wanted a free upgrade from a 1A to a balcony. Of course I did! As someone else mentioned, the casino still had my old cabin number since this was a last-minute upgrade, my Premier swag (and most importantly DOU card) initially went to my old cabin. On another Premier cruise I got (and accepted) an upsell email from an interior with an obstructed view (4J overlooking the front of the ship) to a balcony. No issues with the casino having the wrong cabin number since the upgrade was about 2 months out. I think the key to keeping the Premier benefits is that the offer has to be initiated by Carnival. If you just call to see much to see how much more to change to a better room, they can't quote an upgrade and keep the Premier benefits if there are no more Premier rooms authorized (either the Premier group is at a capacity and/or it's past the booking deadline for the Premier offer). nireg Posted August 11, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Just booked a balcony on a premiere cruise for January out of NOLA on the Dream. Never took one before but guess they won't call for an upgrade? Sent from my iPhone using Forums

bafinegan Posted August 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2017 We decided to upgrade from an OV to an OS. Did so without any problem. Got to keep the casino rates and all the perks. BUT, the premier offer had not expired and was not sold out. We called the OPC number to upsell ourselves too. Hope this helps! baf

mzlinda Posted August 28, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 28, 2017 I got an upsell offer via email about 2 weeks before my Premier last year on the Ecstasy. I went from inside to ocean view. Our DOU cards and coffee mugs were given out at the cocktail party so there was no danger of them going to my old cabin. However, the schedule of events for the week was not sent to my room on the 1st night and I didn't get the strawberries either. I assume that went to my old cabin. I spoke with the host about it because I needed to know when the drawings would be help. Funny story - --She reprinted the schedule and handed me a bottle of the "good stuff" which was apparently a more expensive bottle of champagne. The MDR waiters were pretty impressed with that bottle when I brought it to dinner. I also brought the cheap bottle with me. I wanted to share them with my table, but the waiters kept insisting that I should not share the good bottle. It was kind of comical.
