Non-formal dining on formal nights

When dining formally, we always follow the dress code. But on our forthcoming 4 nighter on Ventura there is one formal night and we don't feel like dressing up. I am quite confused as to what our dining options are. I know that, unlike on Princess, the speciality restaurants will be 'out of bounds'. But I don't really understand the casual dining options on formal nights. I presume that the Waterside is the main buffet but what is the Beach House, which appears to be on the same deck? Someone suggested to me that The Glass House was available, but I'm dubious about this as it looks quite a formal space in photographs. Can someone enlighten me, please?

The Beach House is part of the Waterside buffet which operates in the evening as a waiter service american diner. The dress code is evening casual.

The Glasshouse is a bar that specialises in wine but also serves other drinks and food, again the dress code is evening casual.

So on formal nights you have the choice of 3 venues with evening casual code.

The Waterside buffet is of course free and the Beach House has a small cover charge with some attracting an additional price. In the Glasshouse you just pay for what you eat. I find the small plates are good value for money

Waterside is Evening Casual as stated. But note that the Beach House has a £5 cover charge and some items are also priced on top of that charge, seating is allocated as first come first serve from 1830hrs ( not bookable in advance ).

The Glasshouse is payment per item. Steak and Fish mainly.

Enjoy your cruise.

Dressing up has worn very thin for us over the years, so we now dodge it completely. Easy peasy on Ventura: Only formal bars are Red Bar and Metropolis. Formal restaurants: all main dining rooms, Epicurean, and Sindhu. The rest of the ship is yours.

Highly subjective, but after a fortnight recently our vote for best informal bar went to The Glasshouse, and best speciality restaurant to The Beach House. Beach House gets busier as the cruise goes on and word gets around - I know you're only on for 4 days, but on longer cruises make friends with the chap in charge, who always managed to find us a table regardless of how busy it was. Epicurean and Sindhu were quiet, and touting for business.

I think Epicurian and Sindhu are starting to become a little overpriced for what they are. The food is (in the main - we had a disastrous meal in Epicurian on Arcadia but are probably in the minority) excellent in both but it seems quite a lot to pay now bearing in mind that you have already paid for your meal in the MDR. Probably wont stop us using them but the Beach house and the Glass house do represent better value - IMHO of course!

Agreed, particularly as it's just supposed to be a supplement. Fine dining it ain't - Gary Rhodes was fine dining, Epicurean is good-ish pub restaurant standard.

Certainly on Azura The Epicurian (Seventeen as it used to be) served food of far higher quality than pub food). Although it's not cheap we think it's really good value considering the standard of the food. We have eaten there four times now and really enjoyed each time. Just our opinion of course.

Have they changed the Ocean Grill on Arcadia to Epicurean? They said they had no plans to do that [emoji24]
