Cruise overbooked?

Just got an email today from Windstar saying that they overbooked our Sep 10 Spanish Serenade Lisbon- Barcelona. They are asking passengers to change to a future cruise Sep 18 (similar itinerary). They will refund deposits and give you a free cruise if you change or you can choose any other cruise for the same price, plus some $$ for changing airfare! Have you ever heard of overbooking a cruise? It's tempting but we don't like the Windsurf as much as the smaller ships. We are on the Pride.

Some cruise line offer the same terms. Princess calls it a Move-over offer.

Overbooking does occur on other cruise lines . The Move Over type offers can be pretty good if you can accept . Princess does this more frequently than others I believe.

They will not bump you off but will increase the offer until they get the volunteers .

Yes I was on a river cruise that became overbooked.They overed me a free cruise a week later and paid the

change fee for the airfare, all in all a fantastice deal if you

are not on a set schedule.

Wow sounds like a pretty good deal to me if you are able to change. We first cruised the Wind Spirit and then the Wind Surf. I liked the smaller ship just a little bit better but would happily move if the offer was right!

Can you rearrange your other plans? If so I would go for it and enjoy!

That offer is far more generous than the one I got when my booked cruise was chartered. I'd take it in a minute.

Done! Too good to turn down. I just wonder what "overbooked" really means at Windstar!
