Cashing out OBC?

Is it possible to cash out OBC in the casino on NCL? If so, do I just go to the cashier and ask for some cash from my onboard account? Is there a fee or anything?

Yes provided it is available OBC, that is not given by NCL.

There is a 3% fee.

If it is refundable OBC, ask at front desk and you will eventually be mailed a check for that amount.

If it is non-refundable OBC either spend it (shops, Bingo, drinks/dining) or in the casino charge that amount to your onboard account and you will be given the cash but charged a 3% fee.

It's a minimum of $100 in order to do so, too

The 3% charge is a "convenience" charge for taking out the cash, nothing to do with the type of on-board account you are running.

Thanks for the clarification! I usually cruise with RCI and if you have a cash account with them, there is no fee to withdraw the OBC.

I had about $45 in unspent OBC provided directly from NCL on my last evening of the cruise. It was non-refundable so I would lose it if not spent. I didn't want to buy anything. The casino provided me with instructions how to load $40 to my key card so I could gamble with it. I did the actual process myself using the touch screen on one of the slot machines. The process did cost me 3%, which was charged to my on board account as a separate transaction. Once the $40 was on my key card, I loaded it to the slot machine. Then I never pulled a slot. I just cashed out of the slot machine. I took the cash out receipt to the automated machine in the casino and it gave me $40 in cash.

Wonderful! Thanks for the info! I'm not a gambler so not so in-tune with slots, but was it pretty intuitive to do? If not, I'll seek some help! :) I'm heading to Disney post-cruise so if I don't use the entire OBC on the ship, I plan to spend it at Disney on food and maybe a souvenir or 2! :)

It was not 100% intuitive. They gave me a little piece of paper at the casino cashier window with written instructions on it for how to accomplish the transaction. But I was still a little confused. So I asked one of the casino employees who was walking by if she could help me figure it out. And she did. So definitely just ask for help if you need it. By the way, I did this in late December of last year. So I suppose it's possible things might have changed some since then.

Just be aware that not all the NCL cruise ships have a casino setup for using your key card to put cash on a machine. The newer megaships might, but not most of the smaller ships. So your ability to do so is going to depend on which ship you're sailing.

All ships.

1. Go to casino

2. Go to cage

3. Say "Please can I charge $500 to my room"

4. Hand over room key

5. Receive five Benjamins

6. Say "Thank you".

7. Exit casino

3. Say "please can i charge $500 to my room"

4. Hand over room key

5. Receive five benjamins, pay $15 ncl convenience fee.

6. Say "thank you".

Yes, but that is getting cash at cage. I was referring to the fact that not all ships have option of putting room key into slot machine and getting cash. Post #8 method is not available on all ships.

Got it! So if over $100, get it at the cage! If under, get it from a slot machine and cash out (going on Epic so I'm sure their machines are compatible with room key!).

Epic room keys can be used in the Casino, she swipes room key @ desk & you are able to use it.

Friend was offered this option, but she preferred to have a 'casino @ sea' card.:D:D

Seems reasonable.

all you have to do is use the little screen on the slot machine, close to where you put money in. You have to enter your bday day and year then enter the amount you want to charge from your on board account. Once that transaction is complete then you use that same screen and load it to the slot machine using that same process then play or cash out. Not terribly hard but i am sure it would be no problem asking someone for help. I believe it works out to $0.60 per $20.00 you take out
