Carnival Cheers Program

I am going on a cruise in October on the Carnival glory and the few people I am going with and I are trying to decide wether or not to purchase the Cheers! program or not. Has anyone purchases this and liked it? When we are at half moon cay are we still allowed to use it for drinks on board? And has anyone ever run into the issue of using all 15 and not being allowed to get any more drinks for the day? This is our main concern as it includes non alcoholic drinks as well, we do not want to use all 15 and not be able to drink the rest of the day. So has anyone run into this issue or did you find the 15 lasts you?

As long as you are on the ship, you can use your cheers. Cheers does not work off of the ship, even at HMC.

Once you hit 15, they will no longer serve you. I imagine 15 depends on what you are drinking. I mean I can drink 15 domestic beers and still want more.

Remember, the non-alcoholic drinks do not count toward your 15 limit.

Also, you can purchase additional drinks, as long as you do it before you hit the magic number 15.

Non alcoholic drinks do not get counted against your 15

I meant to mention this, but forgot :(

It sounds like OP needs to buy the cheers! plan.

Remember OP, once you are getting close to the 15 limit, everyone in your party can buy a round of drinks. 1 drink will count towards cheers, the other drinks will get charged to you S&S account.

I did read that the drinks in the souvenir cups don't count. Will they allow you to buy these separately?

In regards to souvenir cups/shotglasses... I was able to buy at a slightly reduced price since I was on cheers. For example, they bring around shotglasses in the dining room. They were $7.95 each, or $5.00 on Cheers.

I got specialty coffees (hot, ice and frozen - at coffee shop), bottled water, juice, soda, Honest Tea (bottled - at coffee shop) and milkshakes. None of these counted against the 15 limit.

It was worth it to me since my cabinmate was under 21 and didn't have to buy it, and I could try all sorts of drinks that I may or may not like.

If you do it, remember that your 15% gratuity is included in the program. You can add additional tip on your receipt or give a cash tip, but it's not required.

this is technically not true. there is a chance the bartender will break the rules for you and do this but since its against the rules you should not count on this

All you need to do is tell them it is for someone else...

Since you can't share Cheers, they will definitely sell you a drink.

Or once you hit ten, just order 2 drinks at a time and they will charge you for the second.

ok, if you want to skirt the rules you could lie and tell them that you are buying a round for someone and 1 will be charged to you and one will go against cheers.

I prefer to tell people what the rules are and not how to get around them.

Normally, if you tell the bartender you want to have the drink charged to your S&S card, they are not even going to ask why.

Of course, each bartender is different...

I bought it on my last couple of cruises. Even though I don't normally drink much I had no problem getting my money's worth.

A mimosa or two with breakfast, a couple drinks with lunch, a couple in the afternoon, a glass or two of wine with dinner, and a couple drinks throughout the evening quickly adds up to a dozen or so drinks.

The best part for me is that you can try different kinds of drinks and if you don't love it, you don't feel like you've just blown 10 bucks :)

15 beers on One day ?!?!! I'd pass out or be doing number 1 all day in the washroom.

Once you hit 15 the computer system locks your account, so the only way for the bartender to let you have another drink is to charge it to someone else or to themselves if allowed.. I know this to be true because a bartender showed me my screen when I hit 15 once. He could not log another drink under my account.

Yep. Someone we were cruising with last year hit the 15 mark rather early and was none too pleased... He wasn't with us, just on the same cruise...

So I guess the key is to NOT hit 15 unless you are done for the day... [emoji12]

its 15 alcoholic drinks.

here is what you are allowed

  • up to 15 - All spirits, including cocktails, cognacs, whiskies and other spirits, as well as beer and glasses of wine, with a $50 USD or lower menu price per serving

  • Unlimited - Zero-Proof frozen cocktails, sodas (including specialty sodas) and juices
  • Unlimited - Specialty coffees and teas served in the main dining rooms, specialty restaurants and coffee bars
  • Unlimited Milkshakes
  • Unlimited - RockStar energy drinks, Powerade, Vitamin Water, Coconut Water and Honest Tea
  • Unlimited - 500ml bottles of water served in bars and lounges
  • Unlimited - Large format (1 liter and 1.5-liter) bottles of water in the main dining rooms and specialty restaurants
  • 25 percent discount off the menu price for any spirit, cocktail or wine by the glass, costing above $50 USD per serving
  • 25 percent discount off the menu price for wine and champagne by the bottle and larger format water bottles purchased outside the main dining rooms or specialty restaurants
  • 25 percent discount off the menu price for all beverage classes and seminars

The following restrictions apply:

  • Guests must be 21 years or older to purchase and agree not to give to minors.
  • Each adult assigned to the same stateroom must purchase the program.
  • Guests must purchase the program for the entire cruise - this program is not offered on a per day basis.
  • CHEERS! is non-refundable; if the program is purchased prior to the cruise, it is refundable up to 11:59pm ET, the evening prior to the cruise departure.
  • Price adjustments (up or down) implemented on the day of sailing will replace any previously advertised price.
  • Only one alcoholic drink at a time may be ordered using CHEERS! - sharing is not permitted.
  • A double shot will count as 2 drinks.
  • Program allows for unlimited Zero-Proof beverages but only one beverage at a time may be ordered using CHEERS! - sharing is not permitted.
  • There is a 5 minute wait time between ordering drinks.
  • Guests may purchase a round of drinks for themselves and friends. One drink will count towards the CHEERS! program and the remaining drinks will be charged to the guest's Sail and Sign account.
  • Program allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hour period (6:00am-6:00am); once the limit is reached, the guest will not be served ANY additional alcoholic drinks.
  • Program only applicable for onboard purchases during regular operating hours.
  • All bottles and cans will be served opened
  • Carnival reserves the right to refuse service for any reason.
  • Applicable state and local taxes will be charged to the guest folio when this program is used within US waters. The tax is based on the state's tax structure and the cost of the individual drink purchased (not the daily program rate). For example: if the drink price is $5 and the tax is 10%, the guest's Sail & Sign card will be charged $0.50 for tax. This applies to all US ports (embarkation home ports and ports-of-call).
  • Due to state laws, we cannot sell CHEERS! until the second day of the cruise for voyages departing from our Texas, Alabama and New York home ports. Drinks purchased on the first day of the cruise will be charged to the guest's Sail & Sign card in the usual manner. When purchased on the second day of the cruise, guests are charged for the remaining days only (cruise duration less one day).
  • For those guests who pre-purchase CHEERS!, it will be activated upon boarding the ship (except for ships sailing from Galveston, Mobile and New York). Guests will receive a note in their stateroom advising them to go the bar to receive their sticker which is placed on their Sail & Sign card. In the event guests do not go to their stateroom, once the Sail & Sign card is swiped, it is flagged and the bartender will provide the sticker.
  • Group bookings (consisting of a minimum of 30 adults) can purchase CHEERS! prior to the cruise by contacting Group Event Planning (all adult guests in the group must purchase the program; all minors in the group must purchase Bottomless Bubbles program).
  • For pre-purchase orders, a message card will be placed in guests' staterooms on embarkation day with the following notation: "Please bring your Sail & Sign Card to the Casino Bar to activate this program". A sticker will be placed on the card for the use of the CHEERS! program. In the event guests do not go to their stateroom, once the Sail & Sign card is swiped, it is flagged and the bar staff will provide the sticker.

My husband and I just got back from sailing the Pride.

We had CHEERS and loved it.! The convenience of just ordering what drink you want wherever you are is so worth it... Without worrying what your bar bill will be at the end. We drank martinis from Alchelemy bar , beer from ref frog, frozen drinks on lido coffee from coffee bar mojito at blue iguana lol waters in between. It was great

I'm sorry for this but I want to make sure I understand what I am reading here. My wife and I are sailing with an Army buddy and his wife. My plan was to buy a Beverage or 2 that were promoted and sold in souvenir glasses, a Irish coffee or two and maybe the spiked milkshake once in a while. and buy a bottle of wine for dinner. If I executed this plan before my 15 limit is reached I should be good right? The last thing I want is to be cut off too soon like that guy you mentioned.

OP I understand your hesitance to book cheers. I have never done it, even though, I do drink a fair bit on a cruise. My normal daily drink cost would normally hit about 40.00 to 45.00 dollars a day, but I always kept my drink orders to the cheapest wine, and mixed drinks ie; gin and tonic, and normally my daily bar bill would hit about 40 to 45.00.

Next cruise, I decided to pre book and pay for it, just to get the charge out of the way, and not have to "worry" about my on board bar bill. Also, having cheers means I can order the more expensive wines, like prosecco, and dinner wines a notch or two above what I have limited myself to before. And another bonus, is that I enjoy cappuccino after dinner, and a good cup of coffee in the morning, so I can indulge in those things on my upcoming cruise.

For me, this time, cheers looks like it will be a good thing, cant wait for September:)

the rules say you cant do any of that (except the bottle of wine at a 25% discount) but some bartenders look the other way.
