Does anyone know who Princess uses for their whale watching excursion - JHM-640 Maui?

I don't know, BUT: best whale watch we've found (eco, naturalist, NOAA support) is https://www.pacificwhale.org/cruises/ & it is easy walk to/from pier area, central Lahaina town..... hope that helps! (We are Big island residents who fly over to Maui occasionally just to whAle watch!) Sherri

We used Hawaii Ocean Project this past March but found with the bigger vessels that you can not get as close as the Ultimate Whale Watching Tours that use smaller rubber dingys. We are seniors as well and if we had to do it again we would go the smaller dingys because you can get up so close to them. The bigger boats are too far away from them in relation to the smaller crafts.

If you want to do whale watching while in Hawaii, make sure you check to see when the best time of the year they are there. I was just there, end of April, first part of May. The whales had already headed out for Alaska.

Do note that no matter what size boat you are in (whether it be a "bigger boat" or a "smaller craft"), federal regulations state you must stay at least 100 yards away from the whales.

March will still have PLENTY of whales to see. We were there in Mid-April, and on our way from the airport, came upon an "overlook" so we stopped, and there were moms and babies in a lagoon...too cool!

Saw more on a day trip to Lanai....on the sailboat to the island!
