Anyone ever use the Club 21 Letter for Casino Cash

 Share

Recommended Posts

i just got off a 24 day cruise on the Maasdam and I got a letter from the Casino Club 21. The letter stated that if I booked a cruise by June 19th and Sailed before November 19th the Casino would give me $250.00 cash.

It is separate from the Casino discount on the cruise.

Has anyone received a letter and used the Casino Cash?

There just seems to be allot of restrictions on it.

It's separate from the casino discount, and yes, there are restrictions. I have always tossed the letters as we have never cruised twice in 6 months. However, we recently decided to book a November cruise (about 10 months since our last) so I emailed them and asked what they would offer and the dollars were still listed. www.oceanplayersclub.com and click on Get In Contact

I took the letter to the casino window and asked if they would honor it. We hadn't cruised in the 6 month window that it was good for. The casino person said she didn't see why it wouldn't be honored, but she would show it to her manager and told me to come back later when he was there. When I did, he was very curt and just said "NO". It wasn't for much...$50...and I told him that goodwill was costlier than that. He still said "no", to which I told him I was done gambling on this trip...that he lost a whole lot more money than $50. Didn't put another dollar in the slots. Guess it saved me some money

Your experience is why I suggested contacting the casino "home office" via their website. They can look at your Mariner # and see what offers have been made etc. If the casino mgr honored your letter, I imagine it would have come out of his budget versus corporate casino marketing's. For $50 he should have been happy to take care of it.

The problem I have run into twice is that I had already booked another cruise outside the window in the letter so it didn't apply and there was no way I was going to book another just to use the offer. The first time I simply tossed the letter. The second time, I contacted http://www.oceanplayersclub.com/ and asked if they would honor it. While they didn't give me full value for what the letter offered, they did give me a smaller amount of casino cash. This last time, the letter was a little different. We had just put down a cruise deposit while on board and the letter didn't offer us a specific amount but said to contact the players club to make sure we got the best possible discount. We had already gotten the casino discount but they did give us each a small amount of casino cash and told us to take a copy of the e-mail with us and present it to the cashier when we sailed next year.

The first time I got the letter for $100. casino cash, I had a cruise already booked within the time period. I e-mailed the casino people listed in the letter and they honored it. The second time I got the letter before leaving a cruise, I used it on a cruise I intended to take anyway within the time frame given in the letter. I must say that I was surprised when using this the first time, to learn that they actually give you cash money instead of a credit to your casino account. You could just walk out with the $100. and not gamble. (Fat chance - huh?)

My feeling is that they did not check to see how much we spend in the casino when they refused the paltry $50 offered. We have gotten a casino rate for at least 3 cruises, so it isn't as if we put $25 in a machine and then walk away. They shot themselves in the foot by not honoring it

Well, I had the letter on the Rotterdam to contact them by May 29th. I did and the email I have back says I qualify for a credit. They just want the details on my cruise.

Hopefully, the credit will be a non issue. It would be nice to gamble "for free" for a change (yes, I know I already paid for it;) )

Here's a little different twist on those letters that, I must say, shocked me. At the end of our Asia cruise in March we received a letter giving us $100 per person casino credit on our next cruise. We had already booked a cruise for Thanksgiving and March 2018 so we were outside the window. When we came home we decided to book a little 6 day trip on Carnival. Cruising is easy for us since we live a little more than an hour from Port Everglades. So I emailed the Ocean Players Club and explained the situation. Lo and behold I received an email back saying Carnival would honor the letter and we would have the credit waiting for us onboard. I was truly surprised (and pleased) and realized it never hurts to ask. All they could say is no...but they didn't!!
