Help needed re booking

Hi we have a booking in September for the Azura and as we are a family of 5 obviously we had to do this in 2 separate bookings.

We changed our booking to a select fare so we could get the parking but kept our kids on the saver fare.

All I asked was the we were on the same deck. The booking were linked and I was told that it would be more than likely.

They have now allocated their cabin and given them an upgrade (just a better position I believe). But this now means we will not be on the same deck but p&0 very kindly (yes I am being sarcastic) offered to upgrade us to be need at a cost of £500.

I cannot put the kids back to the same grade as us and it seems I now have to pay extra for the privilege of being near them.

This is our first cruise and the first holiday were I have had to make separate bookings I could really do with some advice as to what to do before I just cancel the lot!!!!!

For a Select Fare you should have been able to choose your cabins and regardless of whether you used a TA or P&O you should have been able to link the bookings. Whoever took your booking should have advised you of that and also that you have to reject an upgrade or you could be on different decks.

We always book two adjacent cabins with our friends and have two separate but linked bookings.

You can only try and have your cabins changed.

Thank you. I have been trying to register a complaint but I was put on hold then after 10 mins it suddenly rang through somewhere else then again holding on for 20 mins still no luck. I used to work in customer services so I know that they are hoping I will just give up.

I am not agreeing with P&O or even a fan but the

Terms & Conditions state

Saver Fares require a 100% deposit at the time of booking and are subject to a 100% cancellation fee. No amendments are permitted once booked; any amendment will be treated as a cancellation. Bookings are made at the relevant cabin type and a cabin number is allocated by P&O Cruises prior to departure. Dinner seating as allocated on board. Shuttle buses in ports are an additional cost. Saver Fares apply to new bookings only. These terms and conditions vary, where relevant, the applicable booking conditions which are otherwise unchanged.

Terms & Conditions

P&O Cruises Select Prices come with a range of benefits:

- they are available on all cruises, at all times

- choice of cabin number (subject to availability)

- first priority for dining time and table size in the main restaurants

- first priority for upgrades (where and if available)

- choice of on board spending money, car parking in Southampton, return coach travel to Southampton or airport parking. Available on cruises of 7 nights or more

- 15% deposit

- flexibility to change your booking (subject to our booking conditions)

- shuttle buses (where available)

These benefits are subject to availability.

On board spending money varies by cruise duration and is based on the number of nights spent on board and applies to the first two passengers sharing a cabin.

If you have any on board spending money this can be used during your cruise in most of the ships’ outlets, including on board shops, bars, restaurant, spas and towards shore excursions booked on board. On board spending money cannot be used for the following: medical charges (including services, prescriptions and supplies), cash back, purchase of foreign currency, international visas, charity donations, on board gaming (including the Casino) and as full or part payment against a future cruise. All on board spending money is non-refundable. If you have purchased, or have received a gift credit then please be advised that the same terms as above apply. If you are a Peninsular Club member your on board discount applies after all on board spending money has been used.

Car parking is available on all Southampton roundtrip cruises of 7 nights or more. Leave your car in a secure car park (one space per booking). Please let us know at the time of booking if you wish to use this service and then contact Cruise & Passenger Services Ltd (the operator) direct on 0845 071 3939 or via http://www.candps.com/parking to arrange your car parking no less than 35 days in advance of your departure.

Return coach transfers available on all Southampton roundtrip cruises of 7 nights or more. Coach transfers are available to all passengers on the booking. Please let us know at the time of booking if you wish to use this service and then contact our coach provider direct on 0843 3742246 no later than 56 days prior to departure. For pick up points see page 76.

Airport parking is valid on selected fly-cruise only and is offsite parking at the relevant airport (one space per booking) for the duration of your holiday with transfers between the car park and the airport terminal. Please let us know at the time of booking if you wish to use this service and then contact APH Airport Parking and Hotels Ltd (the operator) direct on 0844 871 7561, quoting cruise booking reference number, to book your car parking no less than 35 days in advance of your departure. Amendments to car details can be made up to 48 hours prior to departure day at no additional cost.

In most cases airport transfers operate every 10 to 15 minutes however some will operate on a demand basis. Passengers must check with APH and arrive in plenty of time to park their car before checking in for their flight. If you wish to cancel your booking you can do so up to 48 hours before departure, but please ensure you notify both P&O Cruises and APH.

Shuttle buses With our Select Prices shuttle buses will be offered free of charge in ports where they are provided by P&O Cruises.

All you can do is speak with P&O and see if they will bend the rules for you in this instance.

It shows really that you should read the t&c not just sign on the dotted line.

Id imagine that the £500 could be the difference of all being on the select fare.

Although bookings were linked it is not a guarantee. Restaurant timings again, on saver fares pot luck on Select fare you choose. It sounds that you thought you could beat the system !

I think this is complicated by one cabin being the Select Fare - where you can specify cabin location - and the other cabin being a Saver Fare, where you have to accept allocation wherever.

Your bookings are linked, but this doesn't guarantee you will be near each other and I fear that if you try to get through to Customer Service on this and IF you succeed (after a lot of expense as P&O don't seem to be answering their phones at the moment) that is all they will probably confirm.

Look on the bright side, sianjane - Your teenagers might well relish the extra bit of independence lol

It is good they managed to move your cabin so it is on the same deck as your childrens. When you amended the bookings this should have been explained to you that by changing one booking to a select and leaving the other as a saver that the saver fare would be slotted in anywhere where there was cabin availability, not guaranteed to be same deck as you. It is good that you are happy with the result ...you say that the bookings are linked..if when you get to your cabins the dining times are different (possible even with linked bookings)(quite possible as again saver fares are not given a choice) then go and see the rest. manager after boarding (there will be a very long q) and he will see what he can do to accommodate you. Not guaranteed but he will try his best. If not for the first night you may need to consider the buffet.

I am sorry I have not been on that ship so cannot tell you about the cabin

Thank you the English lady for the heads up regarding dining options. We have asked to be freedom dining and I was told on my very first telephone call it wouldn't be an issue. But I will keep this in mind thank you.

That is right at the stern of the ship. Some people like them as you would have a view over the wake. If you have bumpy seas you may feel it more there. If anyone has pix, I think the part obstruction maybe a pillar on the balcony. Not so much blocking the view from the balcony but using up some of your balcony space.

I hope it all works out ok for you and your family for the cruise, and that you all enjoy it.

We stay in aft cabins by choice love them but always corner ones on B deck there is a metal pillar running through some of the cabin balconies.

Toms Cruise Blog has great pics of aft of Azura that might help you.

Glad you got sorted.

Found this.... http://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1969994

Also, there are images of D735 on Ventura on the P&O website if you search for Obstructed balconies . I believe Ventura is the same structure as Azura, so this could help?

I have heard a lot of people really like the aft balconies :)

Thank you everybody I shall have a look. In more than happy with the cabin as I explained to customer services I really didn't mind being on the lowest grade I just wanted to be in the same deck. I'm now again looking forward to the cruise again

We love cabin D735. We were allocated it last year on an early saver in the Caribbean. We are going on the Azura again in August and have a select booking and have chosen D735. Next year we are back in the Caribbean on the Azura and have chosen D734 as D735 not available and its mirror image.

Although it is obstructed, it is hardly any obstruction and as a bonus it is a massive balcony. You will all fit on comfortably.

Pictures of the balcony on the obstructed balcony list. You will love it.
