John & Kay W Posted April 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2017 (edited) Has anyone experienced trouble getting a refund from Celebrity and/or Cruise.com on taxes on a cancelled cruise. I had to cancel my Feb. 10 cruise on Celebrity Equinox booked through Cruise.com. My insurance reimbursed me for everything but taxes. Both Celebrity and Cruise.com blame each other for the delay of reimbursing the taxes. Any Thoughts? Edited April 26, 2017 by John & Kay W
bEwAbG Posted April 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2017 If you booked through cruise.com, then they're the ones who should get the refund and give it to you. Even if they haven't gotten the money from Celebrity yet, they should refund your money to you (though I'm sure some self-centered TAs would disagree). You could try filing a credit card dispute if you've given them ample opportunity to give you your money back.
John & Kay W Posted April 26, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted April 26, 2017 I think you're correct. Cruise.com claims they can't refund until they get the money from Celebrity.
bEwAbG Posted April 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2017 I would imagine they're waiting to see how much Celebrity gives back in case it's a different amount than the original invoice. But, since they're your TA, you have to deal with them and not Celebrity. You paid cruise.com.
