MS Amsterdam San Diego to Vancouver - 27MAY

Recommended Posts

Greetings all. I had previously posted my "Food Porn" video from the trip and had been asked for menus, etc. I am currently (finally) pulling together photos and review of the cruise. I have the first 3 parts done on my blog, and am working as quickly as possibly to get the rest done.

The first page of the Amsterdam review can be found at:

http://bonvoyagebites.com/2015/06/holland-america-ms-amsterdam-pre-cruise-may-2015/

Please look around the pages while you are there, and I am totally open to suggestions, comments, criticism, etc... I am trying to make our first blog be something entertaining and enjoyable. I hope to see you all here some more, and catch you all on the seas.

Apparently the coffee is kicking in. I just managed to get Pt 3 of the review posted.... Dinner post for Day one is next.

Again, please provide feedback... too long, too short... boring... awesome... an overwhelming desire to send me someplace tropical... Anything is welcome. :)

Thanks, everyone. I am trying to get the rest finished. I had no idea that day one would be so long... but then you add the food pics and descriptions and geez, it just goes on and on. I don't imagine the other days of the trip will be so long since they were largely a lot of the same thing... but we shall see.

If you haven't looked at the food video yet, take a peek... it's all from that trip as well.

I've never fancied myself much of a writer, and I know I over-use commas... But it has been fun for me so far. :)

Thanks for the interest, everyone. I am going to get Pt. 4 up in a little bit. It should have the dinner menu and pics, as well as the Daily program for day 1.

Are the links between the parts easy enough to see and intuitive? Anything else that may need improvement, etc? Please advise if you have the time.

Thanks!

Sounds good. i will check my footage and see if it's any good. The dining room is shown on my "food porn" video, but I got footage of a lot of the other areas on the ship as well. I don't know if I have looked at any of them yet, so we shall see.

Should I focus next on moving to review and describe day 2, or should I focus on getting a ship tour video together first (assuming my footage isn't rubbish)?

Thoughts? What would the people of CruiseCritic prefer to see next?

Describe day 2 and then a ship tour video.

RetiredKid... this was shot with a GoPro, with one frame every 0.5 seconds. The actual time was just under 40 minutes.

To hold the camera in place I used a GorillaPod. If you havent looked it up yet, check them out at the retailer of your choice... (so as to not "advertise", per se)

they are Super cool, and I used the same gorillapod to hold my camera on the fence at St. Maarten for the Airplane video on my blog.

For timelapse, you want zero movement, if possible.

Enjoy!

I have started working on Day 2. DW got the photos ready for me, and now I must start generating the words to go along with them.

I also have copied the video clips to the imac, and will start editing after getting day 2, pt. 1 done. :)

Keep an eye out. Thanks for looking.

Ugh! I've been trying all afternoon to get something posted but my Internet provider is failing miserably. I cannot keep a connection for more than 5 minutes. (using my iPhone to post this)...

As soon as Cox resolves my Internet I will have day 2 pt1 posted.

Thank you, sunviking90. I am in the process of making a tour video of sorts. Keep an eye out for that as well. I was surprised when booking at the lack of info available for the ship, and I use other people's videos and reviews and photos to get myself ready for a trip...

I also need to get more review stuff written, but most of our time on the short little jaunt up the coast was spent wandering, spending time with our teens, and relaxing, so I feel like writing about it may be getting redundant. :)
