sallybrown2012 Posted July 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2015 We'll be traveling on the Dawn from Boston in August. What's the best time to arrive at the port to minimize wait times before we are able to get on the ship?
phoenix1181 Posted July 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2015 Anytime after noon you should be able to check in & board immediately.
sail7seas Posted July 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2015 There are usually many check in reps and a long counter. Assuming no computer glitches etc, check in goes rather quickly.
1025cruise Posted July 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2015 I just got off the Dawn. I figured if we got there around 12:30, by the time I parked, dropped luggage, etc, it would be a quick walk on. I was wrong. The lines were still going on. We were just getting lunch at 2:00, with muster at 3:00.

Check in is quick only if you don't have to wait in line to do it. I just got off the Dawn. Boarding generally starts around 11:00 so by noon the lines are generally gone. We're cruising on Dawn again next week & I'm planning to arrive shortly after noon & pretty much breeze right through check in & boarding in about 20 minutes............. That's what I was expecting as well. But then again, I also hit traffic on the Mass Pike, so that might have delayed people. I also noticed that there were a lot of large groups, so that might have had something to do with it.
