Sky Penthouse Questions

Recommended Posts

We are sailing in a large balcony Penthouse on the Sky, and I have a few questions.

I know there is no Haven area on the Sky or anything like that, but is there a special place where suite guests have breakfast (like Cagney's on the Gem or the Haven Restaurant on other ships)? I've enjoyed many a breakfast in the Buffet, but a nice quiet start to the day is a wonderful thing!

Do you get the email with advance concierge services in a suite on the Sky?

Are reservations required in the MDRs if you are a couple or a group of 4? Do they serve the same food in Crossings and Palace?

Any other tips for a couple celebrating a big event would be appreciated!

We were in the large balcony Penthouse on the Sky June 1st. Loved every moment. We had breakfast every morning at Cagneys. They had a buffet or you could order off of a menu. You may also have lunch there also. Never went to the MDR's but I would imagine that the concierge would be happy to make reservations

We received a letter about advanced services but didn't call/email anyone ahead of time.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

We were on the Sky in May for our anniversary. As stated earlier, there is no Haven area on the Sky. We did get an email from our concierge, we also got real luggage tags in the mail.

Suite guests get breakfast and lunch in Cagney's......I would also suggest dinner there for your special evening. We chose to have a large breakfast delivered to our suite each morning, because it's something we like to do on vacation.

You mentioned MDR reservations for 2 or 4. If there are 4 of you, it may be worth switching to the AFT penthouse with large balcony. The forward penthouses are like long balcony cabins. The aft penthouses have a living room and separate bedroom (like at your home).

I got French pressed coffee each morning, they offer it in Cagney's (no add'l charge). It was very good!

Be sure to let your concierge know about your special event. You may or may not get something special from them. We got a rose and card from the butler and concierge.

Be sure to attend the meet & greet with the captain. They had an open bar and that is where we got invited to tour the bridge. If you tour the bridge, ask about their special coffee machine....and don't decline any offer for a cup of its coffee.

I don't know about the forward penthouses, but the aft penthouses have a stereo and speakers in the living room and bedroom. They can be zoned. Also, while in port, you can use FM. You will lose your station at sea, but the stereo is hooked to the TV.....so you can tune it to a couple of stations (ex: bridge cam) for non-stop music in your room.

Ditto to all posted by Kingofwylietx.... we just got off. Don't know when you are going but current Concierge is Suzana and she is a darling! Will meet you in the Plantation Club, deck 12 (you will be escorted there) and Cagney's right next door for lunch. We were forward and it was perfect for us :-)

We are forward too. 8202 or 8002, I'm not sure which. The photos on-line look dated, but I am sure it is a fabulous cabin and it appears to have a huge deck. Perfect for a Butler-brought breakfast as a treat!

Been a while, but I was in 9002 about 15 years ago, the cabin was huge, but I didn't like the balcony. When you sat in a chair at the table, you couldn't see over it, it is solid steel about three feet high. I wouldn't do a forward suite on this ship again if I wanted to spend time on the balcony. Yours is one deck below, not sure if it is the same, but I assume so. Actually, our Butler-brought breakfast is when I realized how much this really bothered me!

Oh well, we booked what we booked and can't change now as there are no other similar category options left. We will be on vacation without our kids for the first time in many, many years. We will make lemonade out of any lemons!!

It was just not conducive to sitting, like you usually would want to do on a balcony. Here is a picture of the table on our balcony when we were in 9002 and a view of the balcony from inside:

Oh yeah, the setting on the table was for our butler-served breakfast!!
