Ventura advice request

Hi folks,

I am hoping one of you fellow cruisers might remember from sailing on the Ventura - in the inside cabins, is there an electrical socket close enough to the bed to plug in an alarm clock, or do I need to take an extension lead? I am travelling solo for the first time, and need my loud alarm because of being quite deaf.

Many thanks in advance.

Richard

Be aware that ship's electricity is not of a reliable frequency (it may even be 60Hz not 50Hz). This means that a mains-powered alarm clock will not keep reliable time. A battery-powered travel alarm would be a better solution.

You realise that you can set an alarm call on the telephone in the cabin?

thank you for the replies - much appreciated.

You have raised some issues I hadn't thought about, particularly the fluctuation in the electrical current. I will have to try the alarm system on the phone - although my home phone doesn't wake me when I have my hearing aids out at night, so fingers crossed!

t=The problem with a phone as a night-time clock is that you have to lift your head from the pillow to read it :D. I love my phone but there's nothing to beat an old-fashioned alarm clock with luminous hands and numbers. I agree though that battery operated is better on the ship.
