debby31201 Posted May 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Going on first cruise in September , considering staying at a hotel and taking advantage of leaving the car parked there. We only live about 3 hours away , is it worth it in your opinion? It will be 2 groups of us in one vehicle so I know that one of us will be out about $200 because of not needing to park a vehicle or what not Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
sunshine002 Posted May 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 15, 2016 I sailed out of Baltimore in March on a two week journey cruise. For us it was a great savings by parking at the hotel. We stayed at a Best Western about a half hour south of the Port. Nice hotel, nice room with a nice breakfast in the morning. When we got off the ship there was a van waiting to take us back to the hotel, the driver even pulled right up to the right. Going they used a bus and we signed up for the transfer when we checked into the hotel. They had 2 time slots to choose from which worked out well. Our drive is a bit longer (about 4 - 5 hours) so it was nice not to feel rushed in getting to Baltimore. Enjoy your cruise.
Tyfani Posted May 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 15, 2016 We stayed at the Best Western last year and waiting for a ride back to the hotel was so slooow. I think we waited at least 45 minutes. We waited long enough I started to count how many Holiday Inn vans we saw. I can't remember how many but I said next time we are staying at the Holiday Inn. summersigh Posted May 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2016 We've found the "snooze and cruise" or "park and cruise" packages to be a good deal if we're wanting to stay the night before our cruise in the port city. If you calculate the price it would be to park at the port as well as the cost of breakfast (most motels offer it free) and subtract that total from the price of the room I think you'll find the hotel portion is very reasonable.;)
ready2cruzagain Posted May 15, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 15, 2016 No matter what port we sail from we always use the park and cruise motels. Only a few hours from Baltimore and done it a few times from there. We always use stay123 dot com. They give you several hotels to compare the prices. We have used them about 10 times now and never a problem.

We have used them about 10 times now and never a problem. You can google either "snooze and cruise" or "park and cruise" and the name of the port city to get lists of options. We used 123 in FFL and had an incredible deal on the Comfort Suites® Airport & Cruise Port hotel which included parking, free internet, free breakfast and free shuttle to the port for almost $100 less than booking a regular room rate would have been. The hotel isn't far from the airport and if you ask for a room high up on the east side you can see the ships in port from the window.:)
NCTribeFan Posted May 26, 2016 #11 Share Posted May 26, 2016 I used the cruise parking package and the HIE Stadiums 2 years ago. For my 1/2/17 sailing, I won't need a parking package since I'll fly in, but I'm looking for something with both an airport and pier shuttle. When I was there last, the casino next door wasn't open. The rates are considerably higher now. I have enough points for the same hotel (loved their local shuttle to get to/from the Inner Harbor), but need to contact them to see about the airport & pier shuttles. Canadian Tyler Posted June 6, 2016 #12 Share Posted June 6, 2016 Another vote for the Best Western (in Elkridge). We booked through Trinity Reservations for a great price considering hotel, parking, breakfast, shuttles. The hotel was very nice. The wait for the shuttle coming back was a little long- seemed they needed more than one shuttle running, but I'd still book it again.

SRF Posted August 13, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 13, 2017 I looked, even though I am about 30 minutes away. But hotel overnight was $142. Parking at the port is $15 per day. So pretty much a wash for me.
