bahama_mama2015 Posted September 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2015 We like to drink wine with dinner. If we purchase a bottle of wine (which I understand is not included) does it count towards out daily drink limit? Thank you!
hftmrock Posted September 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2015 you get a 25% discount on the bottle (I think) and its not included in the count
bahama_mama2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted October 3, 2015 Can anyone else verify this?
dyson Posted October 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2015 you know the easiest way to verify... look it up on the carnival page.... In addition, guests who purchase CHEERS! are entitled to: 25% discount off the menu price for bottled water 25% discount off the menu price for any spirits or wine above $10.00 per drink 25% discount off the menu price for wine and champagne by the bottle
coevan Posted October 3, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2015 you ask a question, get an answer and then do not believe the answer, really?
klepton Posted October 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 3, 2015 you ask a question, get an answer and then do not believe the answer, really? Maybe OP mistook the "I think" in the response for the question about it counting towards the cheers limit. OP - Purchasing a bottle of wine, even with the Cheers discount, does not add to your Cheers drink count for the day.
ellenw Posted October 4, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 4, 2015 We were on the Splendor the week of 9/20. If you purchased a bottle of wine, you got the 25% discount. The purchase counted as one drink toward your daily limit.

bahama_mama2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted October 4, 2015 you ask a question, get an answer and then do not believe the answer, really? LOL! Yes how rude of me! Sorry to doubt the answers of someone who said they weren't sure about something! I just wanted to see if anyone else had any input. And I have gotten two different answers for the question if it counted towards your 15 drink maximum. So my question still does not have a definite answer. n6uqqq Posted October 4, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 4, 2015 The best idea is to go ahead and use cheers to get your wine at dinner. Why spend money on a bottle when you are already spending hundreds on ch eers?

BonnieH Posted October 4, 2015 #12 Share Posted October 4, 2015 why not bring your own bottle of wine (1 750 ml bottle per person), uncork it in your cabin and bring a glass (large glass in my case :) ) to dinner?

I was surprised by ellenw's answer as well, I had not heard that it started counting, but her experience definitely indicates that it did count towards the limit in her situation. If that's true, maybe consider buying a wine package (or two) instead of buying by the bottle.

klepton Posted October 4, 2015 #15 Share Posted October 4, 2015 Oh what is the wine package??? I haven't seen anything about that?? http://www.carnival.com/onboard/cruise-the-vineyards You can look online at Bon Voyage, some packages might be available there. But basically when you board they'll have a number of wine packages available. I forget the exact levels, but you can choose between different numbers of bottles (on a 7 day cruise there might be options for 3, 5, and 7 bottle packages) and then you also select the "level" of wine you want. Each level has a list of wines you can choose from, so the more expensive packages have wines that are traditionally more desirable. So when you buy the package you get a number of little cards, and you trade in these cards when you want to redeem for a bottle. At least that's the way it used to be, I'm sure someone will correct me if it's changed recently. :D I like red wine, and the bottom package has always sufficed for me. My wife likes white wine, and in our experience the white wine is significantly better if you move one level up from the bottom. But that's pretty subjective. YMMV
GROUCHPUSS Posted October 4, 2015 #16 Share Posted October 4, 2015 We were on the Splendor the week of 9/20. If you purchased a bottle of wine, you got the 25% discount. The purchase counted as one drink toward your daily limit. This is the correct answer. When they changed the rules and all your "Drink on Us" drinks in the casino started counting against your cheers they added that in also. Same thing if you buy like a fishbowl in Redfrog you get your 25% off and counts one on your card. Don't worry most can not max out their card most days anyway. I have done Cheers at least 12 times this year and I do buy bottles of wine with it.
