Brittania balcony cabin tips

Hi. We're looking at doing the Baltic next June, which means Brittania. Do you have any suggestions please for best location for a balcony cabin (not bothered if with/without sofa)? And is superior deluxe really worth the extra £500 each? Am guessing they still have the same small balconies. Your usual invaluable CC tips would be everso welcome before biting the bullet... Thank you!

Stayed in F726 at Easter our choice of cabin and a great choice. Being an aft cabin the balcony was much bigger, the location at the back of the ship was also very quiet with no passing traffic. Good location for buffet etc. added bonus we had a sofa too. Would stay in that cabin again love aft cabins soon on Azura in aft cabin.

No noise when docking.

My recommendation for Britannia a great ship.

Weve had superior deluxe on Ventura and it was lovely. I would not pay £500pp extra for it though especially on a port intensive Baltic cruise.

Non obstructed balconys on Britannia for June next year showing at a starting price of £1949. As a comparison on Celebrity Eclipse next June its currently £2098 pp for a non obstructed balcony (all balconies on Eclipse are about twice the size of Britannia's standard balconies) plus this inlcude free drinks package and $500 OBC per cabin currently. Just an idea if the balcony size is an issue.

We were in D238 on Britannia and have booked the same cabin again for a future cruise. Yes the balconies are small (most are the same size in depth with a few exceptions) but the shower is far bigger and better than Azura & Ventura - shower door instead of curtain and lots of storage space for shampoo etc.

The room was fine and the location was quiet. Although its midship "ish", it was quiet as there wasn't the amount of foot traffic that we've previously experienced when staying midship between the two sets of stairs.

It was quite a walk to the buffet and back - which was not a bad thing! Other areas were convenient from here (dining room, atrium etc).

I personally think that £500pp extra for superior cabin would not be worth it. The extra £1000 could be far better spent - or even better saved towards another cruise! We tend to use our cabin and balcony lots on a cruise rather than deck space, and we found this cabin was more than adequate for the cruise.

Have a great cruise and enjoy the Baltic.

We had F729 and loved, loved, loved it. GREAT cabin and great location.

Huge balcony, very quiet and with a nice settee to relax on. A mix of sun and shade. Would book again in a heartbeat. Ok a bit of soot but that was not an issue for us at all.

That's 3 of us saying this area in a few posts so this must say something.

Enjoyed the aft cabin on Britannia but beware of the soot! C deck much worse then E deck.

Thought our recent superior delux on Ventura was looking tired and rather shabby, however we liked the extra space and the larger balcony.

We had a little bit but nothing worth bothering about on F deck soon resolved by a packet of wet wipes. Cabin steward mopped balcony too so soot never really an issue.

With the delux cabin C deck aft on Britannia we had copious amounts of soot on the balcony. Spoilt our holiday! It seemed worse when we were delayed one day and had to motor so to speak overnight. It marked clothes, walked into the cabin, covered the balcony furniture and stained swimwear/underwear that I had washed. Although the cabin was in a quiet area we experienced tables being pulled across the suite balcony upstairs at breakfast.Very annoying! The people above looked directly down on us while they were dining on the balcony but to be fair they didn't any other time. With the E deck delux aft it was much quieter. Not so much soot just a sprinkling. You don't quite get as good a view but we love sailing out of ports from an aft cabin. We were overlooked from above as the aft of Britannia is stepped down. We did get a fair amount of sun on both trips.

This is all great advice - thanks so much! I've read about the soot issue on Brittania - does it affect the F aft balconies very much, or just higher decks?

It varied from day to day. Most days out of 14 it was just little spots and a damp flannel wiped off any spots. Only on one day out of the 14 was there more and they washed that down the balcony for us. Not a major issue at all. :)

Great advice from you all - many thanks! F729 has our name on it now! Looking forward to next June - just hoping there are no nasty price hikes in the pipeline with the Brexit financial scaremongering going on currently. Fingers crossed...

I hope that you like the cabin :) We loved it. We did our homework beforehand on the Princess site (for Britannia's sister ships) and people seemed to like that cabin on the Princess ships as well. :D:D:D

Re the scaremongering - we're just waiting to see how things work out. Apparently the German markets did worse than ours today ... it will have settled more by June next year.
