Ships

Recommended Posts

We're booked on the SS Explorer and looking forward very much. We're also thinking about booking another cruise a bit later on the SS Mariner. We're looking at the Grand Suite, on the SS Explorer it's in the back of the ship, on the SS Mariner that suite is in the front. In general do you this we'll be happy with the SS Mariner after cruising on the new SS Explorer?

Thanks

The Mariner is a lovely ship and is the most stable at sea. We have stayed in the Grand Suite on the Mariner and it was lovely, however, I do not think that anything can match up to what the Explorer has to offer (in terms of suites, layout, dining options, etc.)

The Mariner is not going to be refurbished until next year and I personally would wait to sail on her after that. "Alaska season" really takes a toll on the ships and, although she is in good shape right now, she will be in better shape after refurbishment.
