Sorry if this has been discussed previously but -

We are going on Britannia around Britain in July and

  1. Is transport for Edinburgh other than cabs easily available when docking
  2. Same for Glasgow
  3. Anyone know where we will dock at Liverpool, will it be near the Maritime Museum

Thanks in advance for any info

It may not have been discussed on this board but the best place to get advice about places you're visiting is on the Ports Of Call boards and in this case the 'Britain' threads.

Britannia will be at anchor off South Queensferry and you'll be brought in by tender. From there there are various ways to get into Edinburgh. There's taxi of course and I have created two threads to show how you get to Edinburgh by train and by shuttle bus. I'm also working on one about using local buses and I'm just waiting to do the photos.

I'm a volunteer at the port and we have a website for people coming to this area. It's

The ship will berth at Greenock for Glasgow.

Where you want to go in the Glasgow area will determine how you travel.

The railway station is about half a mile away and trains run at around 20 min intervals to Glasgow Central.

Glasgow has a suburban rail system, an underground system and plenty of buses and cabs, so it's quite simple to get around.

Have you done any research on where you might want to go or what you want to see?

If you can be a little more specific, then more info can be provided.

We docked very close to Albert Dock when we visited Liverpool on Ruby Princess....not sure if that's where the Maritime museum is (think it maybe as we did visit a museum there!) lots to see and all within walking distance of the ships berth.

There are HOHO buses at South Queensferry which will take you into Edinburgh via Leith (large shopping centre and the permanent home of the previous brittania- royal yacht).

If you get to Glasgow City Centre from Greenock there are also HOHO buses which will take you round all the tourist sites

Sorry but there are no hoho buses at South Queensferry. I'm there every cruise day and the only buses are the shuttle buses or the local buses at the other end of the high street.

The link you gave is for the tour which leaves Princes Street, comes out to SQ via various tourist sites then passengers do trip to Inchcolm then back to Edinburgh but you cannot hop on hop off

The Merseyside Maritime Museum is in the Albert Dock. The museum of Liverpool is by the Pier Head. Albert Dock is a short walk from the cruise terminal which is next to the IOM ferry terminal. Magical Mystery tour buses leave from the far side of the Albert Dock from the maritime museum.

Hi there, is Britannia in south Queensferry on July the 8th and does anyone know what time she sails at?

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Britannia is now using Newhaven instead of Queensferry. This makes it much easier to get into Edinburgh (approx 40 minute walk or 10 minute drive/bus)

According to this - South Queensferry from 08.00 - 19.00

These aren't always correct though - changes can be made which don't always get up-dated. (Sorry, it may muddy the waters rather than clarify things!)

Assuming Britannia is able to berth at the Liverpool Cruise Terminal, then it is short pleasant waterfront walk to the docks and Merseyside Maritime Museum.

Yes it will be able to as Royal Princess has been here twice in the last couple of months. Everything is well within walking distance as you are effectively in the city centre.

I've got some pictures I'll try to upload.
