Carnival Paradise Cozumel 11am-8pm shops stay open?

we are on the Carnival Paradise arriving in Cozumel on Wed, Aug. 8, hours 11am - 8pm. What time do downtown shops close? This is first time we will be on a ship that arrives late AND stays late. My recollection is that they close at 5 or 6. We are doing a 3hour snorkel excursion and think we may need to schedule shopping first. Thoughts?

Most shops are open until at least 8.

Especially shops at Puerta Maya. What you might not find open is the kiosks and smaller shops downtown around the plaza areas.

Shops stay open as long as there is a cruise ship at a dock. Except Christmas day, of course.
