  1. Most of town is completely flat. Only when you get to residential area does it start getting hilly. I was referring to the town area.
  2. What month are you going? Ketchikan has some amazing places to visit that you might want to consider, but vary month to month. The salmon are running mid-July to late Aug so that makes a difference depending on what you want to see. As far as town... it is a small quaint town that is totally walkable. Lots of things to see and do there!
  3. Do it yourself online. Carnival website is very easy to navigate. We always book everything ourselves.
  4. Yeah, excursions are expensive but soooooo worth it! We are doing our 3rd Alaska cruise in August on the Spirit this time, last two were the Conquest and Legend. LOVED every second of it. Tracy Arm small boat excursion is a MUST Whale watching in Juneau... cheaper with independent ops but they fill up fast Helicopter up to walk on glacier... amazing! Don't just hang out in port.... take an excursion out to SEE Alaska. It is our favorite, that's why were going back again.
  5. Thanks, that is what I thought but we have never booked this late and had this situation before. Thanks again.
  6. We have booked a cruise just 6 weeks before sailing and were not able to book the YT dining. We have been assigned Late Dining, which just won't work for us as we are Early Birds, up at 5am every day. So I know we go to the Matre'D the first day on ship to request the change... but do they always give it to you. We are Platinum if that helps.
  7. The Rainforest Sanctuary is full of wild animals, like bears... when you go they have people lead and follow the group, and at least one is carrying a rifle... They are there mostly to keep the wildlife off the walkways, and wouldn't shoot an animal unless there is no choice, but it is for safety issues that all groups must have guides. They also have walkie talkies to speak with people around the park with binoculars watching the bears. So.... YES, there is a reason for the price.
  8. Carnival FINALLY has added Dinner Salads as main courses in the MDR and they are quite good. Just stay away from the high fat dressings. Also, the salmon and grilled chicken entrees are really good. Stay away from the desserts. I have actually done pretty good on most cruises by skipping desserts at dinner, or just getting the fruit plate. AND I always try to walk every day on the ship and get in 10k steps.
  9. Roatan...Victor Bodden tours... you get to hold a sloth, and interact with the monkeys, but not hold one as they are still wild and can bite.
  10. YOu need to make sure you let CARNIVAL know you are bringing a scooter. It is a big deal, paperwork, etc. Its okay, but you need to tell them. As far as crowded.... we were just on the Jubilee in Feb 2024, never thought it was crowded except for lines to get into shows. There is a bottleneck in the floorplan up by Alchemy bar, but other than that the ship is laid out really well. Loved it. No, we don't use a scooter, just giving our opinion from our cruise.
  11. I am having the same concerns.... just discovered we are booked for the first cruise back on Panorama in Nov. I really don't want them to come up a few weeks before and say, oops not ready yet!
  12. Definitely get the EARLIEST tour for Stonehenge! It gets insanely busy every single day. We did our tour thru Princess on our port stop at Portland. It was a combo of Stonehenge and Salisbury cathedral. LOVED it, great tour guide who made the bus ride enjoyable as he gave history of every town we drove thru on way, as well as various legends and lore. My hubby had done Stonehenge back in 90s when it wasn't roped off, so he was afraid he wouldn't enjoy this but he did. Salisbury cathedral was magnificent, could have spent a whole day there, and we got to see the Magna Carta.
  13. We did the Regal Princess cruise last Sept and loved it so much, we are doing it again, only 12 days instead of 10, next june 2025. The reason? Loved that we never had to pack a bag and carry it anywhere, our bedroom stayed the same for the journey, and the ship changed Cities(ports) during the night. We did excursions every port, got out and really saw things, really enjoyed experiencing the areas and people. So that is why we are doing it again, by ship. Depends on what you want.
  14. Totally depends what you want to do.... are you just looking for a City tour, or do you want a history tour, or do you want something else. There is so much to see just outside of Greenock, and private tour companies if you don't want a cruise excursion.
  15. There are sand fleas (noseeums) in Roatan. Sometimes they are bad, sometimes not. Best bet is to spray from knees down with a bug spray or oil. They live along the beach areas where there is vegetation, like jungle, and as I said - sometimes nothing, sometimes everywhere. My last trip I got nothing, the trip before I forgot to spray and had bites from our jungle walk in port area. Previous trips, ditto.... best to just spray.

    Tours

We used Native Choice last Feb.... absolutely LOVED them. Only thing is you have to walk out of port to their kiosk, about 15 min walk. Other than that... perfect.
  17. It was a tender port for us this past Sept, 2023. Regal Princess.
  18. Bonaire is the SHORE Diving Capital of the World. We have done 2 week-long trips there, and averaged 3 dives per day. Its nice to stay at a hotel that has a dive shop, so you can get tanks and do boat dives if you want. Those hotels usually have a nice house reef right off their pier also, so we do a dive there every day. If you love to dive, its a great place to do it. Food isn't cheap so most people go to grocery store to get stuff to make sandwiches at your room to help costs and time. Some resorts also include breakfast, some even have rooms with full kitchens. We like Buddy Dive resort, but there are so many there to choose from!
  19. I was there this past fall.... there is a bus that runs from the top of the hill, down to the main viewing area, and back. It is not free, so you need local cash or debit if their machine is working that day. I have a video if interested... we walked down, then rode bus back up.
  20. WE LOVE Belize... but we love Adventure excursions. The Mayan ruins there are second to none because they are within 2 hour bus ride from dock. It seems really far, but honestly the Mayans didn't build their cities for future cruisers, they built them for strategic location. Belize is a country of fantastic jungles and history... cave tubing and Mayan ruins, with some off-shore islands worth visiting if you just want to snorkel. Do an excursion... you won't regret it. our last visit:
  21. My personal opinion... YES, you will be disappointed with snorkeling in Cozumel.. It is IMHO the best scuba diving in the Caribbean, period. BUT snorkeling, nope. The reefs in Cozumel are far to deep to see, and it is all drift diving with current you cannot fight, you have to go with it. Snorkeling is best done at your own pace, and being able to hang out and watch the fish. Bonaire and Roatan are the best IMHO for that.

    Ahhh! Help!

Keep an eye out for this when it gets posted as available on your cruise. It WILL sell out immediately. On our last trip, they did open up a second boat closer to sail date but there are no guarantees you can get a spot. Literally everyone will be trying to get on it. Have a great trip.
  23. Just about every beach club on the island offers a "free" tequila tasting.
