Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. For those who asked this was in Celebrity Cruise Line All Aboard F-Bk group which has over 50,000 members. I would have posted a link or screenshot but I know CC does not like it. I have tried to located the post again for a screenshot but cannot locate it so it must have been removed. The poster was complaining about additional charges after final payment and he/she stated one was for changing the configuration on the bed. The poster alleged she was on the phone for hours trying to get it and other charges straightened out and Celebrity reps repeatedly stated it was legit. I do know Celebrity monitors the group so she may have had her issue(s) resolved.
  2. Has anyone been charged for changing the bed configuration on your reservation? I have read that Celebrity is now charging for this!
  3. Donovan from Jamaica was delightful - always singing and cheerful. We saw him on Summit June 2021 sailing out of St. Marten.
  4. Great! How did you find this information? My reservation still shows Bermuda and I have not received an email.
  5. No ‘cherry picking’ for me and I did read to the bottom and saw the exclusion. Their communication (website and phone) is confusing, contradictory and wasn’t timely for our trip, but still worth the grief (so far) since I haven’t cancelled.
  6. Yes, Celebrity communication has been volatile and confusing with regard to requirements. We made all reservations this past week only to have their requirements change yesterday. They have conflicting information- the below is still on their website even though not true. They need to provide clear direction.
  7. They are also on Infinity, Millenium, and Constellation. They are on the third floor heading back to the Tuscan Grille. At one time the area was part of the conference rooms but converted to cabins. We like the large window which provides lots of light.
  8. The last time I tried to use this I was told it was rejected because my name did not appear on the documentation I provided. My name was clearly on the statement although at the bottom. I received the email while on the cruise in spite of filing the request a month in advance, 😖
  9. Just my two cents - I do think it is the room attendants job to check everywhere in the room. Just recently we found two tissues under the bed and a voucher issued to prior guests in a drawer. In defense, though, I have left ships later morning several times and seen hallways littered with trash, leftovers, BATHING SUITS, socks, etc. as the rooms were cleaned! We have been very careful every since.
  10. We are currently on the Rotterdam on the second leg of a B2B. Embarkation in Fort Lauderdale was a mess because there was a last minute request from the EU that everyone be tested immediately prior to embarkation even with already being tested per HAL requirements. Upon arrival in Amsterdam last Sunday we were allowed to leave the ship and did NOT require another test upon returning. We have an appointment Saturday for a Covid test on the ship at HAL’s expense before our flight to the U.S. Sunday. I have not heard anything about the number of cases; we had approx 1,600 on the transatlantic and now have approx 2,200 on board.
  11. Does military mean active military or does it also apply to veterans?
  12. We are currently on the Rotterdam traveling from Fort Lauderdale to Amsterdam and then on to Norway. My husband and I are both quite disappointed in the cruise. Embarkation was a total disaster taking over three hours. We learned through word of mouth (nothing at all from HAL) that requirements for Europe had changed and everyone needed to be Covid tested at the dock prior to sailing. HAL did nothing to inform guests that embarkation would be delayed due to the testing so there were two enormous lines of guests waiting for testing. In many cases the guests were waiting in the sun with no water for several hours. Eventually the local Sheriff’s department delivered us water. The ship itself is quite contemporary for our taste, but BEAUTIFUL and very clean. The music is phenomenal. Bar staff and all the wait staff does a great job. The food is subpar compared to our prior cruises on various lines. We have not eaten in a specialty restaurant so my comments relate to the MDDR and buffet - the choices are pedestrian which is OK, but nothing is ever hot unless you have it specifically cooked for you. The Dive burgers and New York Deli food is good and arrives hot. Most disturbing for our ongoing trip is that our bed has horrendous vibration at night preventing us sleeping. We are on deck 6 midship in a veranda. Has anyone else had a problem with this? (The room is small but adequate. We also do not like the door opening on the verandah which has no way to remain open in warm weather and is heavy and slams shut.) We have no nightlights in the room! I try to remind myself that any cruise is a good cruise! This is not a ship we will choose in the future especially for Caribbean travel.
