  1. I'm guessing that you are not on a cruise because how would you be able to see Pearl Harbour a day or so before the cruise leaves? Is that the case?
  2. Starting to think about my Hawaiian cruise and am wondering what works best with the washing machines on Crown Princess. Can I use a washing machine POD and just dump that in with the load of clothes? And how about the LAUNDRY DETERGENT SHEETS? Do they get the clothes clean. Or should I just stick with buying detergent on the ship? TIA.
  3. Right now, I have booked an excursion through the ship (Crown) to tour Peal Harbor. Very expensive. (My husband and I like to tour through the ship's excursion because once we had a bad experience when a tour operator almost didn't get us back to the ship on time.) But I see that we are in Honolulu until 11 PM, so that really is enough time to do a tour on our own. So I'm asking the following: 1. What is a good/reliable outside tour company to use for a Pearl Harbor tour? 2. Is it easy to get an Uber to get from the ship to Pearl Harbor and do this on our own? 3. Any other information you can provide to make this an easy process that saves us money?
  4. And for those of us on the January 7, 2024 Hawaii cruise, we will spend Monday January 15, 2024 in Kona. So it's not the same for each of the Hawaii cruises they are doing.
  5. I know about asking for a hand held shower and also know that I may not get one. I would really like to have one and am thinking about bringing my own. (Crazy I know.) Can someone send me a picture of the shower head and where it is connected so that we can see what we would need to bring. Thanks so much.
  6. Do you think there are Park West "plants" putting in fake bids?
  7. For all who may be interested, I was hoping they were not on the ship 🙂
  8. There are many reasons why people are loyal to cruise lines. Here are some reasons. Some people . . 1. Do not like change. 2. Do not want to pay for extras. (They like being a gold, platinum or whatever member) 3. Do not want to start over gambling with another cruise line. (They like the free rooms they get because they gamble a whole bunch!) 4. Only go for the ship and not the location and excursion. 5. Like a cheap or expensive cruise line and they stick to that one. The list goes on and on.
  9. I think they should be but are they really??? What level are they on?
  10. Wondering if the Rotterdam has a Park West gallery and auctions?
  11. No. Printed and numbered like bingo cards
  12. We like to relax in the room too. We lost our daughter 3 years ago and need quiet relaxing time.
  13. Not for the contestant but it is for all the others playing. Because all numbers eventually called, the computer knows how many matches there will be.
  14. Just returned from a BTB 14 day cruise with NCL and we are taking the plunge. We are jumping ship. Here we come Holland America. I did investigating, research... whatever you want to call it. After 10 NCL cruises it's happening. No more washy washy, no more Park West (definitely not sorry to see that go), no more watching Top Gun 3 nights in a row. We loved the buffet, but a girl has to do what a girl has to do. Already set for the Rotterdam next February. Has anyone else jumped ship after being so loyal for a long time? How did it go?
  15. You can buy great large stickers to put on your door or walls at Dollar Tree. Have used them for years and they peel off very easily. Only $1.25 for a large sheet. We also place them in an out of the way spot near the elevator to help us know which side of the ship we are on. Very low down near the carpeting. Doesn't bother anyone and NCL has always left them on.
  16. We have seen this game played many times on NCL. (We have been on 10 of their cruises.) Everything about it is controlled by a computer except for the suitcase that the contestant chooses. People in the audience who buy games to play at their seats never win anything decent. Let's say the contestant is choosing their suitcases as the game goes along. If contestant calls out "suitcase #1" and it has $200 in it, you open your card. If it matches you do not win $200. You have a match. Audience members win a certain number of matches. We saw it played a week ago and out of about 200 audience members, I would say 5 people had 4 matches. They may have won a free photograph at most. Does this help? I will add that my name was called once. I played on stage and won about $150. I stopped there. The most I could win was $400 and the chances weren't good that I would.
  17. After 10 cruises on NCL we are making the switch to HAL. Very excited to try what they offer. I am wondering about daytime dress. Do men wear graphic tees with shorts? Or should my husband switch to a nicer shirt during the day? TIA.
  18. Thanks for all the replies. We are seriously looking at HAL. Looks perfect for us.
  19. After 10 cruises on NCL I think we are taking the plunge and switching to HAL. I do love the informality on NCL but lack of anything intelligent/lectures happening has gotten to me. Wondering about the buffet on HAL. We really like the informal nature of a buffet and are wondering about it on HAL. Watched a video about it and it seems ok but would love to hear opinions from real people? Is there variety? Does it get boring? TIA.
  20. Am I spoiled, do I need to switch cruise lines or what? Just returned from 14 day BTB cruise on the Escape. We are about 70 yr. old, sedentary, and have been on 10 NCL cruises in the past 10 years (except missed the last 3 because of Covid) and are Platinum members. We do not drink. Everything was pretty good except for the fact that out of four room service breakfasts mistakes were made all four times. From lack of silverware, lack of salt, wrong juice, no juice, etc. But that's not really my problem. I am looking for more intellectual stimulation. I wish there were lectures onboard. I'm happy reading or doing my embroidery but doing BTB gets boring. Why can't they do two weeks worth of movies so we don't have to watch Top Gun every time. There has to be more to life than Bingo and Deal or No Deal. Trivia becomes boring when it's the same two weeks in a row. We are platinum and enjoy the perks. We absolutely love the freestyle way and the buffet. So many things we love about NCL but we've seen enough Caribbean churches to last a lifetime. Heard enough history too. I know that I may sound like a spoiled cruiser but I do need help. Any ideas? NCL is in our price range too and other cruises are often higher priced. What can we do? TIA.
  21. Looking to take my sister on her first cruise. Thinking about going to Alaska in 2024 at the beginning of the season. The prices are much higher in 2024 than they are for this April/May 2023. Any idea why? Like $500-$600 more.
  22. According to SpaceX website, there is a launch scheduled for tonight. Here is the information: "SpaceX is targeting Friday, February 17 for launch of the Inmarsat I-6 F2 mission to orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The 89-minute launch window opens at 10:59 p.m. ET (03:59 UTC on February 18). If needed, a backup opportunity is available on Saturday, February 18 with the same window. The first stage booster supporting this mission previously launched Crew-5 and GPS III Space Vehicle 06. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the Just Read the Instructions droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean." So if you are awake starting at 10:59 PM ET, look northwest. I'll post more if I find out anything else. I wonder how far out in the ocean the droneship will be? Anyone else know anything? Could be very interesting.
  23. Is the purpose of the plastic bag to out inside the paper laundry bag?
