  1. Amazing how different people see different things. Opinions are opinions. We saw MSC entertainment and consider it one of the best. However, now we have two opinions. That's what makes the world go round. Yours and mine are both correct. LOL
  2. I have asked this question many times and still have not had a clear response. ' MSC is targeting US cruisers who are looking for something different, i.e. not the typical US cruise line.' Been on MSC since 2006 and have cruised MSC 5 times, 3 different ships in the past 20 months. What is so different about MSC compare to the Typical US Cruise line? Other than the food which is (not European) just less seafood, bland and never hot, what is different?? Their ships are beautiful, excellent entertainment, prices very reasonable (or they were) and we enjoy MSC. So, what is so different??
  3. Fully understand what you are saying. Food & Service. Some people single out a nationally as being loud, demanding. I believe it is not a single nationality. It applies to all, regardless of where you are from. Traveled around the world and lived around the world. People are people. You always find those that are loud, demeaning, demanding, never say please, thank you! Those that don't believe they should take their place in line. Save a chair for hours and never sit in it. Those are the ones who need to change their outlook and respect others and the staff. Those are the things that cause a cruise to be poor or good. The cruise is blamed instead of the guest who fits this description. If you don't like a certain aspect of a cruise, try to help resolve the issue.
  4. I agree with you on the food and service. As for acknowledgement at the bars? They are very busy. I normally got - what can i get you? I accept that. Really they need more staff. They like all cruise lines have cut back in staff.
  5. What do you think MSC should do to satisfy the American market?
  6. Richard Sasso has been CEO with MSC since at least 2006. He has been trying for over 12 years. I would say that he has succeeded considering MSC has more new build than another cruise line. He still needs to improve on the FOOD!!!!!
  7. I don't believe MSC is trying to convert loyal Royal or Celebrity cruisers into MSC customers. WE cruise a lot and are Diamond+ on RCI and Elite+ on Celebrity. However, we still cruise Royal, Celebrity, Princess, NCL and MSC. They all have their pluses and minuses. Happy Cruising!!
  8. Your thread subject is very misleading. Sorry to disagree with you that 'MSC is not ready to compete in the Caribbean.' MSC has been in the Caribbean since 2006 that I know of since I cruised on the Lirica in 2006 in the Caribbean. Based on your review which I thought was good, does not justify your subject title. I do agree with you on the ship being broken up and hard to get around. Food is poor and needs improvement. However, MSC is doing well in the Caribbean. In fact they are bring out about 9 more ships within the next few years. Bar service was very slow and the times they open are different. On Deck 7 aft by the pool, smoking side, had one bar tender who tried to keep up with the orders. The area behind the deck 7 aft pool which has an old Chev car, bowling alley and race car were never open when we walked through there on our 7 days. The bar on Deck 6 above the atrium opened at 4:40pm. Even though people were sitting around before 4:30 they were not open. I still believe MSC is a good cruise line and will continue to cruise it as they offer a very good value for the money. Happy Cruising!
  9. We were on the Sinfonia out of Venice in June 2018. The food was even worse than what was served on the Divina and Seaside. You could not even request a mixed drink in the MDR on that ship. Questioned that and then we did finally get a mixed drink in the MDR. The buffet was a total disaster with the selection or lack of selection. MSC needs to improve on their food in the MDR and Buffets. However, we still cruise MSC as all other aspects are very good. Happy Cruising!
  10. Thank you both. It has been a year since we were on Princess. Now I do remember what you both said. Do you know what the purpose of Ocean Now is? That is what I got when I did a search for the Princess apk.
  11. Does Princess have an app that allows you to check your account, make reservations, see the daily bulletin? I downloaded Ocean Now and can't register. Thanks!
  12. Many people don't use them anymore. Staff does not enforce the use even in the Buffet and MDR.
  13. A lot of the staff from the Divina went to the Seaside. We just got off of the Seaside and saw many of the staff we knew from the Divina.
  14. I do appreciate your reasoning. However, I am not comparing the MSC just on the Seaside (5,000 passengers.) I am also comparing the MSC food on the Divina and the Sinfonia. Then I compare MSC food to RCI, Celebrity, NCL, Princess, etc. We were on the Harmony OTS 2 weeks then went directly to the Seaside. Food on RCI was much better than the Seaside and Harmony has ~6,500 passengers. I still believe that MSC needs to improve on their food in the MDR and buffets. MSC food is very bland, never hot when served and poor selection. The breakfast in the MDR is really good all around. That is the real short coming of MSC. Other wise they are a very good cruise line. That is why we cruised them 3 times this year on three different ships. We still book MSC and have done so already for next year. Happy Cruising!!
  15. Totally agree with you on the food! We used the MDR only 2 nights. We had the chicken p. Whatever it was suppose to be. Another couple next to us had the same comment about the chicken p. We really enjoy the entertainment! No enforcement of MDR frees code or chair hogs. Other than that, very good cruise. Booked again for next year.
  16. Just got off of Seaside. We had Classic package. We and others were able to order mixed drinks in the MDRand all venues. Some of you never heard of MSC allowing guests to order mixed drinks in the MDR. This is to inform you that it is allowed. Others stated or questioned why we should be allowed to order mixed drinks in the MDR since the text of the package never specifically addressed the serving of mixed drinks in the MDR. Apparently, there was never a need to have MSC spell this out. Mixed drinks are served!
  17. Just got off of Seaside. We dined in the Specialty restaurants 5 out of 7 nights. MSC food in MDR and buffets is the poorest out of any cruise line wr have cruised on. We have taken 3 MSC ships this year. All 3 had poor selection and quality of food. Caribbean and Europe. Other than the food, we like MSC overall. We just got off of the Seaside Sat 11/17/18. We have done over 100 cruises on most major cruise lines. Done 3 MSC cruises on 3 different ships this year. The biggest short coming on MSC is their food. It does not compare to any other cruise line. We rate it as the lowest quality on any cruise line. We normally buy the MSC meal package and eat our meals in the Specialty restaurants every night. They are very good! Even though the food is poor quality, we still cruise MSC and will continue to do so. Everything else is equal to and better than some of the other cruise lines. Been CRUISING MSC since 2006. Food is subjective! Try MSC, only then will you know if it is for you. Happy CRUISING! Quote
  18. Ben on Divina, Sinfonia and Seaside this year. Formal/Gala/Elegant night is not really any different than any other night. MDR food was a total disappointment. People dressed no different than any other night. Yes, a few did dress up. But very few! No enforcement of attire. We even asked Head waiters we knew about this. They said NO COMMENT! As for chair hogs. We sat in adult Deck 7 pool area. We picked our lounge at 815am. For lounges next to us had towels on them. We asked 2 crew members what were the rules. LOL One told us that those towels were on those lounges since 630am. They can't do anything. Finally at 1130 4 people came to sit in those lounges. So there are no rules. Cruise lines don't want to lose a customer. LOL
  19. On board booked a balcony. The person who did the booking knew me from another cruise this year. I told her I was retired military. She said she could give me a 5% discount and Corp would give me an additional 5% for military. Onboard needs an area with desks to take care of future bookings like the other cruise lines have. This would be easier on us plus them to do bookings. My TA is working on getting my 10% discount.
  20. Thanks for all your input. I am registered and have been for the past 12 years with MSC. In fact, did 3 MSC cruises this year on 3 different ships with Military discounts. Don't know why on board rep could not do military discount. Yes, I do turn my books over to my TA.
  21. Thanks! The onboard person who did my booking was not very knowledgeable. She didn't even suggest the Drinks on Us promotion. Maybe they are too busy. She was also an 1 1/2 hours late to her desk.
  22. Can you get both discounts applied when you book? 1. Military 5% 2. Black Card 5% What are the pluses of booking onboard? Thanks!
