Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Just off of Equinox last week in Aqua Class. BLU was excellent. The sit-down breakfast was wonderful and there were so many choices. At Dinner - We always checked the main menu as well as the BLU menu and could order from either. The starters were always interesting and small enough so that they didn't spoil the main meal. On the nights that we didn't care for the duck or lamb - we could order something else from the other menu. The restaurant was well appointed and quiet. Service was efficient and friendly. You will not be disappointed.
  2. Nope - nothing listed. It says there are no entertainment options available. 😞
  3. Anybody know what the nightly shows are on the Equinox for the February 5th cruise?
  4. We were on the Equinox in December. Upgraded to the Premium Package because we like most of the wines you listed. When we tried to order Edmeades Zin or Cherry Pie or Decoy - We were told that there would be an upcharge from the "Premium" package.... These wines were listed at $19.00!!! I complained - but to no avail -... We were in BLU and the wine server was unrelenting.... We are Elite Plus and have never had such a problem... especially in BLU... Be prepared......
  5. What do the drinks cost if you don't have a package? We're on the Dream in November. Other questions ------- Do we need to make show reservations prior to boarding? How do we sign up for early dining? Is there an app that shows what all is happening onboard? Do we get a pamphlet that shows the activities every day? We have sailed Royal several times, but wanted to try Carnival.... All suggestions are appreciated.
  6. Just off Summit (Boston-Quebec-Boston)- In Aqua and we enjoyed BLU both at breakfast and at dinner. We ordered the French Onion soup and Escargot from the main dining menu and several nights - we ordered the main dining room meals. Every meal was tasty and the service was great. Aqua used to be a great value for us as it was all inclusive. With the changes since 2022 - Aqua has lost much of the advantage financially. Wines (without the premium drink package) add $12.00 per night to your cost. We ordered the Filet Mignon for $23 from the main menu and split it. Our next cruise will be in a regular balcony. If more changes occur - it may be on a different cruise line. The perks offered for Elite Plus are almost non-existant now. We had a great run - but Celebrity seems to be increasing prices without offering any reason. People keep booking and ships sail almost full - so they are doing something right. OR ARE THEY SAILING ON THEIR PREVIOUS REPUTATION? only time will tell.....
  7. Just off the Summit in BLU. The food choices sometimes were a bit sparce but since we could order from either the BLU menu or the main dining menu - we were always happy with what we oredred. The meals were tasty but a bit over salted. We love BLU for breakfast and dinner.
  8. Just off the Summit in Iceland and arrived home today. Started coughing and tested positive for Covid. Anybody else experienced Covid yet? Be sure to test so you can get Paxlovid right away.
  9. OH NO!!!! We are on the Summit for almost 2 weeks in Sept. We have loved BLU and always have had excellent and tasty food selections. We totally switched from Royal due to the decline in food quality there. I sure hope the decline in Celebrity food quality as a short term thing and they get back to the way it was before COVID. Prices have gone up and quality has gone down???? Sounds like a perfect plan toward failure....
  10. We sent our objection email today... executiveoffice@celebrity.com Mon 7/10/2023 11:49 AM We are completely appalled by the Celebrity decision to allow smoking and/or vaping inside the ships. We switched from Royal to Celebrity because the smoking (especially in the casino) was so prevalent that it penetrated the entire ship. I have asthma, and on our Canadian cruise on Royal, – I had to use my inhaler daily. Since the cruise was longer than a few days – the congestion turned into Bronchitis. We tested for Covid – It was Negative – but it still took antibiotics to cure the infection caused by the smoke…. PLEASE keep Celebrity Non-Smoking and Non-Vaping. We love Celebrity and have sailed so many times that we consider it “our” line. Smoking will make it difficult to stay healthy on your ships… Thank you for considering those of us that can not be around smoke or vape pollution.
  11. What are the "games" they are playing at night after the shows? The Rendezvous Lounge always used to have games.
  12. Us too.... Aug 30 ..... Canada - here we come!!!
  13. Please keep posting with your fabulous adventures. Very curious about your first impressions on Celebrity.
  14. We were in New Zealand when my husband's back tooth caused so much pain that we considered flying back to Texas. We contacted the ship medical but were told they could not help. BUT - The shore information center in Wellington, heard our story and one of the agents called HIS dentist and arranged for an uber to take us to his dentist's office. They did a root canal and a temporary fill with antibiotics and we were able to complete the cruise. The total charge from the Wellington dentist was only $350 - which our cruise insurance paid. We have forever been faithful to get trip insurance with every cruise. So thankful for the shore agent.
  15. On day 2 - we went to Guest Services to ask about the vibrations and the rocking. They sent up a deck supervisor. He agreed that the vibrations were pretty extreme. He said that several cabins on deck 11 were complaining about the same thing and he would see if he could get it fixed. About 30 minutes later, we got a call from guest relations -offering us a different aqua cabin. It was under the Ocean View and we turned it down. Guest relations said that the ocean may look calm, but the underwater currants were causing the rocking and rolling and there wasn't anything they could do about it until we got to calmer water. (We noticed 2 other cabins had people moving out and asked if they had been upgraded - They said no - they were moving to lower decks because of the vibrations and rocking.) Since the next 6 days were port days, we felt that the vibrations would be more controlled near the islands. It did stay calmer until the final 2 sea days... then it started again. The rolling from side to side was frustrating and almost nauseating... The menu at BLU always had 4 choices for meals. One was usually fish, one was either chicken or duck one was lamb or pork and one was pasta... We always book in Aqua because we like the food in BLU. This time, the menu seemed repetitive and one night it was duck, lamb, octopus and gnocci... We still will book in aqua. I mentioned it because it was obvious that they had lots of duck and lamb onboard. I'm sure several people loved it. I wish I had copied the menus, but I didn't.. 😞 The entertainment for dancing was very good. They had several vocalists that were soft and smooth. They also had loud and raucus bands near the passport bar and the dance floor was a busy place. The Matini bar was always hopping on deck 4 as well. The theater productions were not production shows like we have seen in the past. The singers were very good, but seemed repetitive. Just our take.... your mileage may vary.....
