Sunshine is one of our favorites.

We love the Havana bar in the aft of the Lido Deck. They have a wonderful live band that plays I think they start at 10pm but they are well worth staying up for.

The specialty restaurants JiJi oriental and Captitanos Italian cost $12 each in June (may have changed since then) both are well worth the cost.

The Sea Day Brunch is great especially if you want to sleep late; you can get breakfast up till one pm.

The ocean plaza on deck 5 aft is where they have trivia and live bands and other entertainment. It is next to the Red Frog room which is entertaining.

We will be going on Jan 31 and will try to find more to add to this thread

I agree with others Jamie Dee is the best Cruise Director She has a Mardi Gras bead throwing event in the Atrium You will have to read the Funtimes to find out what night.

What cruise were on in December??? We were on the Pride We were on the Dream that same week?? I am working on that review now.

How did you get the free cruise?? I was told each casino host gets to give one free cruise at Christmas time and I think she heard me say it was going to be our last cruise) We are both using walkers now

 

Yeah the Cubs have definitely made some good changes. And at least now I don't have to watch the Bears anymore this season.....that's definitely a plus

we were going to make our Dec 7 2014 the last cruise, when lo and behold as we left the cabin there was an envelope in mail box Enclosed was a letter for a free cruise. Wow could not turn that down, so we are scheduled for the Sunshine (I think my favorite) on Jan 31st.) I know LUCKY us.

I think your CUBS will be in the playoffs next year; they are making some great deals. Hope our Nationals meet them in the playoffs

Just off the Pride in Tampa last Sunday and what a horrible experience. Ship was late due to fog; we headed to Diamond room to get off. Entertainment person said you don't have to walk that far and found chairs for us near the exit. We were NOT in a hurry and both of us use walkers Husband is 88 years old and I am 79. When the ship was cleared they came over and told us we could leave before the big rush. they also let people with plane flights off. When we got down and thru customs we were told to wait outside till they open the luggage doors and they would escort us in. After 40 mins and seeing high tag numbers come out 14 19 etc. I asked a security guard when we could go in. She said all of those people in that line are being PUNISHED for leaving the ship early without all of their luggage. I was livid and found the person in charge and she said yes You left with people who carried their own luggage off. I explained that we were told to leave by cruise staff. and most of the others had plane flights She said not my problem and covered her name tag. I kept after her and she said OK I will let them in 5 at a time. When we were allowed in there was a huge line waiting for porters. I had called my niece to let her know we were off the ship. She said she really was worried because she had not heard from us for an hour and 40 mins.

Sorry about the long post, but I really needed to vent Not a good way to treat elderly people or make people miss their flights to punish them. We did nothing wrong but follow directions.

I don't think this was Carnivals problem but the people in charge at the port. Who are they to punish people for doing nothing wrong except what we were told.

I miss the Real Baked Alaska on the last evening, when the servers would march in with them and then serve to each person. (real whipped cream) not a slice of cake with fruit over it. Now they don't even have it at all.

PS also chairs on the promenade deck to just sit and look at the water on sea days

It's Maitre d' derived from Maître d'hôtel which means master of the hotel in French.

Their job is to manage the front of the house in a formal restaurant/dining venue like the MDR.

They're responsible for the overall dining experience.

I just got a reply and he said he would take care of it

I know how busy they are. We just got off the ship on Oct 25th and he told us

he would put us at the same table on our Nov 7 cruise. When we got home my niece said she and her husband had just booked the cruise to be with us.

So I just wanted to give him time to arrange to have them join us.

I sent the email and we will find out when we board.

we took her some Charmin and she sent us some chocolate covered strawberrys which dh loved and a bottle of wind. she is so sweet.

In one of those questions thingees someone asked what she would

most like to make her cruise better and she said Charmin

Thank you Dot. I was wondering why you hadn't commented yet ;-) Yes that walker was wonderful for my dad. We will definitely be taking it in December when we cruise on the Dream. It gives him a place to sit down if I want to look around in some of the shops.

 

Oh I am super jealous that you'll be on the Sunshine tomorrow. Yeah Jaime heads back to the Sunshine tomorrow....she has been on vacation. Definitely say hi from me. She is pretty awesome. Enjoy your cruise.

I purchased a walker like your dads from Amazon; Mfg Driver cost $61 and free shipping. We cruise 7 to 10 times a year and it Is wonderful

we will be on Pride in November. Sunshine tomorrow and Liberty in Oct.

Well, we did not stay in that cabin. We got a last minute upgrade from Carnival to OV which was really nice.

I agree; actually I think they are the most disliked. Only the media has made them

took us 3 tries but we finally got a medium rare burger and it was fabulous

Mardi Gras Party:

The party is held in the atrium after on of the performances in the Liquid

Lounge. I was amazed at Jaime’s ability to get a crowd so excited and

involved. She gets up on the bar and dances. She even did a split on the bar.

(A drink was spilled and she made sure it was replaced.) Beads were thrown.

I highly advise you attend this party.

you are right about the party great fun even for old fogies like us. We were

just below you because I can see one of the Mickey light up ears we were

wearing.
