  1. Thank you and I'm so glad you enjoyed the pictures of DC. I was so happy we flew over this time. When I saw the stadium, I had a feeling we were close, but with that air space, I wasn't sure until I saw the monuments. Feel free to copy the pictures of DC if you would like. I don't mind sharing. :)

Even though we're Pittsburgh fans, I will also root for the Redskins and Nationals, as long as they aren't playing the Steelers or Pirates. We're pulling for the Wizzards and hope they can advance further in the NBA playoffs.

So you were on Liberty on the first sailing out of Port Canaveral, how was it? I had no idea she was being moved until after our cruise. Liberty IS a pretty ship. Thank you for following.

We like the Liberty so much that we are going back on June 20th which is an 8 day to south Caribbean.

Thanks for permission to copy one of your pics (my camera is not as good as yours) I think that stadium is Nationals park which is only 6 blocks from my former home.

    thanks again Dot

ps: we both liked the new menus

  2. Can you tell me where the YTD room is? Front or aft?

    thanks

We are also just off the 11 day repo cruise. The cruise was great. Loved the itinerary and length. Loved sitting on the balcony, played a little in casino. The band was great. The Swamp Thang Band. Listened to them almost every night except the nights we couldn't find a chair.

We had YTD and never had the problems we had there. I recommend go early, like 5:30 or 5:45, because around 6:30-7 it is unreal. The pager system is fine but they need to find a way for you to get to the head of the line when your pager goes off. It was not a good dining experience.

JiJi/Italian/Burrito/Guys were all great. I especially liked JiJi but the ringer w/o the bun was great too. Now Lido, evening, was another story. I have never seen such a small selection of food as was in the evening. Seems all our other cruises were carving meat at night and much more selection. It was fine for us because we just usually ate lite if we were there in the evening. Just saying don't be surprised...

Havana Bar was a nice place to hang out. We just didn't find the out door space we have on the Magic. It was horribly windy on our trip though. Serenity was very windy or crowded.

We had a balcony cabin on 7 aft close to the elevators. Cabin was fine but seemed smaller than other balconies we have had. Shower was larger. You could smell JiJi every evening when they got the woks going and at lunch.

IMHO the ship was ok. I have just been on others I like a lot better. Would I sail again on her? Probably, right itinerary and price and not during peak season..

Go!! Have fun!! As they say it is much better than work, cooking, cleaning etc.

Yelp we are back home, same routine counting the days until our Splendor cruise!!

  3. Super Review

You covered so much in two days

My questions are about parking at the port; We have been to Port Canaveral oodles of times but always stayed at a hotel. we now both use walkers and it is too difficult for us to get off and on shuttles So we will be parking at the port

    What is procedure?

Do you drop off luggage first or pay first?

Is it hard to find a parking place?

Is it a long walk from parking to the terminal

Thanks for any info you can provide

    Dot

  4. Does your state issue the "enhanced" driver's license? If so, this is the only document you will need for a closed loop Western Hemisphere cruise.

We are in our 80s; and our passports expire in Nov 2014

If I understand what you are saying we don't have to renew the expensive

passports, but can use our enhanced drivers licensed instead?

  5. I really loved 7345. If I sail a Conquest-class ship again, I will definitely try to grab it. Great price; great location.

Let us know how you like 8357.

I'm just always a little leary if I'm not between cabin decks. Looks like 8357 is under the area between the outdoor Lido and the indoor buffet, but not under a seating area.

p.s. for those that don't know, go to cruisedeckplans dot com, find your ship, then go to the bottom left corner to the "drag these decks" option. You can then see what is above and below your cabin. I always check that before I select my cabin because I do NOT want my beauty sleep interrupted! ;)

Great help, thanks for info about decks

  6. THANK YOU EVERYONE

I feel confident it has two twin beds How wonderful that you all would go to the trouble of finding out for me.

    dot

I do believe that people who say one upper and one lower are simply reading a description and not been in one. I too saw these descriptions and most were followed with (not all rooms are this size and this is for most cabins) but I thank them also for trying to assist me

  7. After going to google for this cabin I saw pictures of twin beds and I think you are right.

we will be on the Liberty May 4th in a different cabin; do you think if I go up about the time they are cleaning the rooms the cabin steward might let me take a look at the room or at least tell me if their are two twin beds?

    dot

    Thanks for you help

The 3 midship 1A cabins on Decks 6, 7 & 8 of Conquest-class ships DO have twins beds on the floor (which convert to one large bed). Those cabins are slightly wider than standard insides (yes, I only paid for a 1A and got a larger cabin than my next-door-neighbors in the regular inside cat 4F).

As a solo, it is fantastic. The upper bunk is not used. Odd layout. No hallway when you enter; closets on the left followed by the desk with a chair in the corner. Bathroom to the right. Bed facing the door, but the left side is behind the bathroom wall.

There's a fabulously useful 1A thread on the boards (don't have it saved; have to search for it each time). Many posts in there and many photos of the non-standard 1A cabins.

I chose the cabin on Empress because it's sandwiched between other cabin decks. I didn't want to be over a club or under the Lido deck.

There was absolutely no noise from the laundry room next door.

When I booked Splendor, I booked the same cabin only to find that on that ship, it IS upper/lower. I was originally going solo but when a friend wanted to join me, I moved to a regular inside.
