They could not have gotten off the ship as the were tagged unvaxxed--they would have seen it when they disembarked & would have had to show their excursion ticket.

A cruise blogger posted a video saying that on the 2nd sailing of The Edge, an unvaccinated couple left a shore excursion to site see on their own. This is a violation of the rules. They got caught and were kicked off the ship at a foreign port. Does anyone have firsthand knowledge of this?
True...

Yes. Unfortunately, there were multiple “attitude” threads popping up last month and CC decided to shut them all down including the vaccine thread to get folks refocused on cruising.
I was away on the Apex maiden voyage when the thread was closed, and didn't have a chance to thank you. In the beginning of the pandemic not only I didn't know if I was going to be able to go on a cruise again, I also didn't know if I was going to be able to work as a dentist again. I used to spent hours reading everything that my friends and colleagues shared, but believe it or not, your thread was my place to go everyday, and for that I want to thank you. The truth is, that vaccines were the light at the end of the tunnel. This picture was featured on the latest Captain's Club newsletter, we traveled with some of our closest friends, ten of us doctors. With our #TeamPfizer, #TeamModerna and #TeamVaccines t-shirts we wanted to paid tribute to the vaccines that made our cruise possible...

Well since we are forbidden to talk science now this cannot be addressed adequately here.
I really miss the "light at the end of the tunnel" thread 😔

@Kbonner Spain is regarded as risk area by Sunday (RKI just announced) but not as high risk area. But Cyprus is now a high risk area for Germany.
But as long as you are fully vaccinated - which you have to be for the cruise anyway - it doesn´t matter as you only have to fill in the ditigal Einreiseanmeldung (entry form). But there is no quarantine. You don´t even need a test before flying.
But by the end of August this could have already changed.

true! they can change for the best or worst. The numbers in Barcelona right now are not good. BTW we were on the Apex maiden voyage three weeks ago and my biggest concern wasn't getting infected, I know the vaccine will protect me. My concern was having to stay two weeks in a hotel until I turned negative.

France now declared Spain as high risk country and advises its citizen not to travel to Spain. Germany will follow soon.
Spanish tourist minister downplays the risk
I was watching the Spanish TV news and they are going through a "fifth wave" right now. They talked about France's recommendations and Great Britain letting their citizens go to Spain without needing to quarantine when they go back, something that doesn't make any sense. BTW the worst numbers in Spain right now are in Barcelona and many restrictions are coming soon. https://english.elpais.com/society/2021-07-06/catalonia-introduces-new-restrictions-on-nighttime-venues-following-sharp-rise-in-coronavirus-cases.html

@PTCruizer in Santorini you didn’t happen to notice if they were offering the local boat between Fira and Oia did you?
Never seen Mykonos look so empty! Great pics.
Hi. We were on the Apex two weeks ago and that's what we did. Went to Oia on our own via boat, then a bus took us to Fira. Thirty Euros pp

Date of Cruise: JUNE 19, 2021
Ship: Apex
Cabin #: 12105
Deck #: 12
Cabin Category: Royal Suite
Cabin Location: Portside/Forward
Bed Position: separate bedroom, bed facing the balcony
Balcony Type: standard
Balcony/Window Size: small balcony for a Royal Suite. Half the size of Solstice Class Royal Suites.
Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: Yes, to the left (aft)
Balcony Overhang?: yes
Magic Carpet Issues?: n/a
Noise Issues?: only once from deck 14 early in the morning
Wind Issues?: no
Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: no
Suite Details: Beautiful suite, great location, easy access to Luminae, the retreat, FWD elevators and stairs. Balcony size was disappointing. Huge bathroom and plenty of storage. Safe in the closet is pretty small. Two USB plugs in one side of the bed and an outlet on the other, in addition to the standard box on the desk/make up area in the bedroom. This lighted makeup desk, also disappointing. If you need a magnifying lighted mirror to apply your make up, bring your own.
Advantages/Problems/Comments: Good location and great service. This was the Apex Maiden Voyage and our first cruise in 17 months. Had a great time and were so grateful of being part of this chapter in Celebrity Cruises history. The crew was fantastic and really happy of having guests back on the ship.
Would You Book It Again?: Only if the price is right. Originally booked on a SS-1 got this RS through the MoveUP program. We have enjoyed RS on the Reflection and Eclipse and liked those better.

Fine Cut Photos -
apparently I eat and photograph a lot of fish! This crab cake was the best thing I ate all week. Also pictures is the lobster entree, the king Caesar salad, and the brownie without ice cream.
everyone else had steak and enjoyed it. My niece has become obsessed with Celebrity’s bordelaise sauce and ate it several times including at fine cut. Most of our party had the filet, but one had the bone in tomahawk solo and enjoyed it.
Best side for us were the tater tots - worst was the macaroni.
The sundae was huge and I wish I had a photo to share with you all!

I would say mostly US, with a smattering of Europeans. I’ve seen several folks whose primary language is Russian and Spanish based on their interaction with crew but I wouldn’t guess at nationality by that alone.
There are are under 20 children onboard I believe. Teens aren’t required to provide vaccination status if under 16, but our two for example are.
And apologies to @drarillfor the crying child(ren) in Luminae. Occasionally things are out of our control and we do swiftly exit them if that happens. Might not have been ours but I’m the first to apologize on behalf of all parents. We also take feedback. It’s the first vacation in over a year for us and a lot of newness. They will be tamed by the 7/17 summit cruise, I promise! (I know someone else on here is doing the same 2 we are)
no worries, I traveled with my children a lot and I understand. But after reading that the two positives on the Adventure were unvaccinated minors, the COVID paranoia kicks in. We understand the science behind the vaccines but I really prefer to take my mask off in front of vaccinated people.
Hope you enjoyed the cruise as much as we did back when our children were the age of yours. Mine were three and four y/o when they started cruising with us.

This should make us hopeful that they will lift the mask requirement 2 weeks later on 6/28!
Hi. Did you read this??
My best guess is that they will keep a flexible mask mandate on board, but who knows. One of the problems with the current sailing is that many crew members received the second Moderna shot on June 13, which means that they are not completely immunized yet. The MoveUp offers seem to be quite steep. Just a couple years back we were offered a Sky Suite to Royal Suite upgrade on a 12 night cruise for $450 per person. Now THAT was worth it. Ever since they've rolled out the MoveUp system, there don't seem to be many deals to be had.
I agree with you. We paid $2000 per person to move up from our origina SkySuite 1 to the Royal Suite. The service has been fantastic but I still think that we paid too much money

We are on the 6/3 Apex cruise so thanks for posting!
We got the Move Up offer and I’m still trying to justify $600 per person to move from AQ1 to a Sky Suite. Is the Retreat and Luminae worth that?
Thanks,
Dale
IMHO it is.

Has anyone been able to find any other reports about this yet? All I have been able to find is the one Reuters article. Great news for those of us getting ready to sail. Hope Celebrity sees this news.
this is true. Our tour guide in Rhodes gave us the news yesterday. Still, the use of masks during the cruise has not been an issue for us. IMHO too many unvaccinated children, some even screaming and crying in Luminae.

I suspect this a Greek requirement, since Greece still requires face masks in all public spaces
i read a news article that they may consider relaxing the mask mandate by end of Sep
i also find this development unwelcome and may consider canceling my Sep Apex cruise depending on reviews from the first couple of Apex cruises
Hope it is, we received the email with the new policy last Thursday evening. If I'm not mistaken that was the day the positives in the Millenium were announced. I just hope this is not a reaction to the Millenium situation, the protocols are working and we have to follow the science. Requiring masks outdoors for a completely vaccinated cruise doesn't make any sense. Only those not vaccinated should be required to use masks all the time.

I think this is just a bad timing coincidence. Likely measures implemented by Greece, not in reaction to the cases on board.

I have my CDC card, and I also have a printed copy from records of the vaccination clinic appointment, as well as the notes that were made when I was vaccinated. Figured it may someday be necessary to have multiple data points for reference.
I have my CDC card and I also registered and was monitored by the CDC through the Vsafe app. I was vaccinated back in December and registered with VSafe for the right reasons, but now is also a way to prove that I was really vaccinated.

If you've had covid and have the antibodies, why do you need to get the vaccine to protect yourself from the virus. Doesn't make much sense to me. I even have a couple of my local Drs who have had covid and do not feel the need to get the vaccine at this time.
There seems to be too much "obey" and get the vaccine. Not sure that one size fits all.
many reasons to get vaccinated, ranging from what's best for you to what's right for all of us. Some people have social conscience and responsibility and some don't. Still, from the medical point of view, getting vaccinated after contracting the virus is the right decision. https://twitter.com/i/events/1403058860722593792?s=20

I'm sharing RCI press release. I also received an email from Celebrity requiring the use of masks on board indoor and outdoors except while eating, drinking or in your stateroom. This is for the Apex first sailing from Athens next week.
Harmony conformed to resume sailing from Barcelona

Olga, you will only be allowed to use ship sponsored tours because you are traveling with an unvaccinated child. Please, check this thread on the Celebrity boards; an unvaccinated couple was kicked out from the Edge for wondering around on their own on a ship sponsored tour. BTW, Celebrity and Royal are private companies and they make their own rules.
