  1. We were just in an aft on Reflection on 7 and found the balcony the same size as our friends who were in traditional balcony cabins. We were a bit surprised as our experience on Royal aft cabins has been the balconies were all much bigger than regular balcony cabins.

There also was little overhang above us which in our case was not as good as we normally like the shade. The other thing was there was more ship movement/vibration than we've experienced in other afts we've been in on Royal. Going into ports we were jolted awake more than once in early AM.

We love the view of an aft and enjoy the extra walking but have decided moving forward for us we would not pay extra for a Solstice class aft.

We booked an aft yesterday as that is where I like to be on a RC ship but this ship does not appear to have a larger balcony from what I can tell. I was hoping I was wrong. I do enjoy the view from the aft but that alone is not worth the extra that I would be spending. I have plenty of time to make the change but at this point I think I made a mistake. Thanks to all who have joined in so far.

  2. Just booked on the Reflection for 2018 and went with aft cabin 8355. My question is approx. how big is the balcony. From what I can see it is almost no larger than a regular balcony? I am sailing on the Voyager of the Seas in 2017 with an aft cabin that has a large balcony but it appears the two ships are shaped diff. The price is pretty high for no larger balcony and wondering if this room is worth that difference. Thanks folks.

  3. Thanks for the info everyone. I am sure we could make do without the promenade deck but would miss it. We are looking at two cruises right now for 2018. Hate to pull the trigger on one as more will be coming out soon. Carnival has a very nice 8 day on the new Vista ship that looks outstanding. The cost is about the same as an 11 day on the Reflection. Tough call right there. Carnival looks more fun but to give up 3 days of a cruise is not all that appealing either. Guess I should not complain as I am lucky enough to be able to have this dilemma.

  4. Looking into cruises for Feb. 2018 and the Reflection has a great 11 day cruise to the Southern Caribbean. We have been on the Adventure of the Seas and our 2017 cruise in on the Navigator. How different is the Reflection than these two ships? Deck 5 is one of our favorite decks on RC as it is very open with great shops and diners. I have looked at deck plans for the Reflection and do not see the same type of setup? Can you folks give me some ideas of the similarities and the differences? How about aft cabins? Larger balcony? Thanks.

  5. Be aware that not all of the winter 17-18 itineraries have been released yet.

Oh and btw, there will be 8 night Eastern Caribbean sailings from Fort Lauderdale on Freedom (to compete with that carnival sailing you speak of ;))

Carnival sailing I am looking at goes south. Aruba plus. I did love the freedom but no interest in another eastern run. Thanks for the info though.

  6. Not sure where to start on this ship. Have only sailed once with Carnival and looking at the Vista for Feb. 2018. Love the itinerary for the Southern Caribbean. With that said I cannot make heads or tails of the rooms online. Pretty sure it is probably me. I would like a rear extended balcony but cannot find a picture or a size or the room or the balcony. The Havana style look nice but I do not want one that does not go to the side of the ship. I believe they have the jogging track right in front of them. For the price I would think I may be better off going to a Suite? The Havana has a nice size to it for sure. We are sailing Feb. 2017 on RC and the rear cabins have large balconies. Does this ship have anything like that? Does anyone know if there are actual pictures I can look at of these rooms? Thanks

  7. I was at Macys yesterday and stopped to look at the watches for about 5 minutes. They did tell me about that sale. I did see a watch there that I liked but have forgotten what it was. Guess it did not make that big of an impression. I really wanted to purchase while on vacation as that is when I really have the time to look but fear may overtake me.

  8. You usually save 15% and taxes if you buy on the ship or in port. The main thing is, do your research before you leave and make sure you're going to buy from an authorized dealer of the brand so you're covered by warranty when you're back in the States. Have several watch models in mind in case they are out of your first choice. I also wouldn't shop in Nassau as it's a dive.

I've purchased a Michele watch from Little Switzerland in St. Maarten and last year, purchased a Tag Heuer on the Freedom of the Seas. I saved $500 and taxes off the retail price of the Tag and am extremely happy with my watch. No problems declaring the large purchase with Customs either. Good luck shopping and enjoy your cruise!

The Tags on the Freedom are beautiful but out of my range. I hear rumors though that the Oasis has sold some watches that are not what they are sold as? That scares me as how would I know. All the watches on the ships look beautiful and would make a nice purchase as a keepsake until I find it was not what I thought.
