Should I book Paul Gauguin or Windstar for 6/24?
minidonuts85 replied to MissEileen23's topic in Paul Gauguin Cruises
We have sailed on both types of windstar vessels (sails and motor yacht) and really wanted a balcony for French Polynesia, so we went with PG. In addition, the scuba program on board. We’re onboard the PG right now and are very happy with our decision. While I understand food to be subjective, we are enjoying the food here on the PG over Windstar in variety and taste. Very likely that we will book a future cruise before leaving. -
Board 2:30 or 3:00? And can you exit after boarding?

Thank you! It has been a dream so far! So much in fact, we are considering canceling another booked cruise and booking again on PG! -

No kidding! Was hoping we’d see you guys by now. The past two nights we’ve closed down the piano bar and La palette (oops lol) but since we’re diving early tomorrow, we’re hitting the sack early tonight. But we are doing the same dives too so for sure tomorrow! -

Hey guys! The dive desk has moved to deck 5 right outside of Le Etoile. We weren’t asked for logs, he did check for the medical cert and just asked when our last dive was. first day of diving tomorrow in Bora Bora 🙂 @ldtemptynest Debbie will we see you guys tomorrow? -

We are on right now and the dive desk opened at 3 but we went at 2:45 and he got us taken care of. Also, the dive desk has moved…it’s now on 5 right outside of Le Etoile. The ships map still shows it on 4. -
Bora Bora tour just cancelled - new recommendation please..
minidonuts85 replied to Piaa's topic in Windstar Cruises
@Piaa the same thing originally happened to us when we tried to book for Aug 29 or 30…they said they’d be closed for a scheduled maintenance period but did a pending reservation in case anything opened ( no payment at the time). Then I happened to be looking at their site and noticed those dates opened up and we booked. Sounds like they may have pushed out the maintenance period. Keep checking their site or email them when it gets closer in case they change it again. -

Oh man that’s terrible! Did you book direct with Tahiti Nui helicopters? We did for our PG cruise next week.. -
Thank you! I see they open at 11am...maybe we will depart on the 10am tender and head over.

We will be departing the PG around lunchtime on the second day in Moorea before she heads back to Papeete that night. Appears that Snack Mahana is a short taxi ride away (1.5km) and we'd like to bring our bags with us before we go to the hotel. Anyone show up there with bags and any issues having them either near your table or somewhere else like the hostess area? Thanks!

If you're thinking of the heeling similar to the show Below Deck:Sailing Yacht, then no.

Diving with Manta Rays- other Favorite dives?
minidonuts85 replied to ltdemptynest's topic in Paul Gauguin Cruises
@Leejnd4 love the video and thanks for sharing! Bali is definitely on our dive bucket list! At 1:45 I noticed a twirly looking thing off to the right. Was that old fishing line or some kind of worm? -

Thank you @saltrip for taking the time and hope you’re enjoying the cruise! Have they asked for logs for the non-advanced dives? -

The link is the right form but agreed it’s a bit wonky which led to the confusion but later confirmation from Leejnd4 and another diver here who I think is onboard now. Page 3 of the form is what the doc signs off on irrespective of all of the responses being No, which was the case with us except the “are you over 45?”… Just told my PCP it was mandatory to dive, even though I have no physical or mental issues that would impair a dive, and she signed it. -

@ltdemptynest oh I see that now! Thanks for pointing that out! Seems very COVID centric. I emailed my TA to ask which is needed -

Hi! In the email with our vouchers, I received a 3 page document… attached is what we received but it’s not 9 pages. We plan to each bring what I’ve attached here plus our diving docs. Health_Declaration_Health_Questionnaire - new.pdf -
Awesome! Same plan…head right for the dive desk. We are on the 8/26 sailing and getting excited!

Got all of our forms approved by the doc! Regarding the dive log....we are bringing our dive computers (plus our own gear) and our dives our logged on the computer. Since we dont plan to do any advanced dives, I am hoping this will suffice just in case we are asked. Our last dive was on 7/22/23. Otherwise I'd need to manually recreate the dives onto paper. @ltdemptynest @sjkoen are you planning to bring a manual log? Just wondering. 1. The need to provide a logbook: If a guest wishes to embark on a dive at the “active advanced diver” level, he or she must have logged 100 or more dives and must have their logbooks with them. -
Why is ONLY my hubby listed to book an excursion?
minidonuts85 replied to hikerbiker's topic in Windstar Cruises
Are you seeing it on the jet ski tours where it’s one ticket, for the both of you, for each 2-seater jet ski? Or the private tours where just one ticket is needed for your party? That is my only thought on where or why you might be seeing just one name come up. -

@Leejnd4 Despite the challenges, this has been one of the best conversations I've been a part of here on CC. Like you said, helping and supporting one another. Im sure you are well connected with dive people in PV but I am happy to reach out to my friend Cesar at Scuba Banderas Republic to see if he know of a doc that routinely signs off of these releases. Yesterday afternoon, the fiancée and I both got messages from our PCPs saying to come in and pick up our completed forms at the reception desk! Woo hoo! We go in this morning, his is ready and mine is MIA. Nurse goes back to reprint it but the doc is with a patient and cant sign it at the moment. No biggie I told her, I can come back tomorrow. 20-mins after we left I get a message saying its ready LOL. Going back tomorrow but we are 50% there! -
Payment schedule and booking excursions?
minidonuts85 replied to Snowcat1's topic in Paul Gauguin Cruises
Excursions can be booked by phoning PG; just did this yesterday for our 8/26 sailing. They book it and you pay on-board. No tiered bookings based on cabin class. Our final payment was due 90-days prior to sail date.
