Total Nonsense on the Nova - what are they thinking??
turtlemichael replied to caviargal's topic in Silversea
Undoing it now would create even more mayhem. The rethink should involve the compensation offered to guests. -
Total Nonsense on the Nova - what are they thinking??

I'm appalled at the lack of consideration for the paying customer inherent in this decision. As you say, it's not a first. But is Silversea alone in this or are similar things happening on other luxury cruise lines? Reading this forum it looks like it is far from uncommon. Personally, it's time for us to move to vacations over which we have greater control. -

I've never understood the appeal of paying heaps to sleep in a smaller cabin so I guess we are all different. -

Because they will most likely be unaffected, possibly apart from minor changes to port times. They will be heading for other ports, not disembarkation. I doubt passengers have been told yet. -

Are you on Muse Sydney-Singapore there next February for an overnight? What are your interests -Great Barrier Reef, rainforests, aboriginal culture, restaurants? I spent 22 years working in the tourism industry in Cairns and might be able to give you some pointers. I've been out of it for 9 years now but still spend a month or so there each year on vacation. Rather than commandeer Mysty's world cruise thread, maybe a new thread would be an idea? -
Good advice! In sketchy areas ways stay close to someone wearing lots of ostentatious jewelry and displaying valuables. You'll be safer.

IIRC, on WC2019 Silversea ran a ferry shuttle from Circular Quay to White Bay Terminal when Whisper was docked there. That's not to say of course that it will happen again this year. -

First Impressions of Silversea (Whisper)
turtlemichael replied to Host Jazzbeau's topic in Silversea
The dumbing down of food for cost saving purposes, now widely reported on Silversea and other lines post-covid, is a big concern to me. I've never expected, or received, Michelin star standard food but have generally had very good meals, matching the service, on Silversea. This is one of the reasons we cruise particularly as we get older and the attractions of 8 hour hikes and tours or long flights to a ship, diminish. Am I better off choosing a nice hotel or resort in a great location with excellent restaurants on the property and nearby rather than a Silversea cruise? The other bit I can't grasp is that all luxury lines know that their future is in both looking after us old fuddy-duddies but also in attracting affluent young cruisers. They demand good food. -

There might be a reason of course but the thought did cross my mind that the breakfast and lunch must be particularly good today! 😆 -

Isn't there a movie Play Mystic For Me ? -
You appear to be disagreeing with something I did not say. I know it depends on the terms of the contract and I do not know those terms. You probably don't either. Silversea have already changed spinnaker2's flights so they have more than one option. Spinnaker2 will never get a satisfactory resolution unless they challenge unsatisfactory arrangements. They may still not get a good outcome but they certainly won't unless they try.

As they offered you flights via Seattle, I guess it is Icelandair ? Given the number of more convenient, for you, locations in the US that they fly to it is likely Silversea does not have contracts for those destinations. It's a bit hard to fathom that they would not have a NYC-KEF contract. Keep fighting!
