  1. but Carnival’s definition of “up to date” says “Up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccinations, including any booster dose, when eligible.” so to me that reads that if you are eligible For the second dose, you need to have it.
  2. What policies are they not enforcing? Also part of my job is overseeing our own policies. I can tell you from personal experience enforcement of covid policies are challenging. masking policies in particular are a nightmare to enforce. It isn’t as clear cut as some would think. good luck proving covid spreaders we’re aware and being negligent.
  3. when I read that page it directs you to CDC which outlines some people are eligible for a second booster. so to me that means that if you are eligible for a second booster, you are required to have it or be considered “up to date” and test 3 days ahead. however, I see John just answered that they are still only requiring one booster. That may change as it seems they update to that page was very recent. Who Can Get a Booster ELIGIBLE FOR 1 Booster Everyone ages 12 years and older can get 1 booster after completing their COVID-19 vaccine primary series. ELIGIBLE FOR 2 Boosters Adults ages 50 years and older People ages 12 years and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised
  4. I’m not sure if you are including me in this or not because my post was agreeing with one that disagreed with you. I do not think covid is no big deal. I have never said that. I have generally been in support of restrictions and requirements. I’d be perfectly fine if masks were still required. I do think that someone would have a hard time proving it is the cruise line’s fault though. I’m not victim blaming but there is an element of risk in every activity. People do have some personal responsibility in this.
  5. i agree. Parks pay out because it likely is covered by insurance and saves them money on litigation in the long run, even if they are found not at fault. Plus those incidents don’t happen frequently. Covid infections do. You would likely see a much different approach to covid lawsuits. And the likelyhood of a company just paying out would be lower. Imagine t I’m in Canada so it might be different but part of my job deals with the “risk” of people becoming infected while on our premise. The general consensus is that it would be a long uphill battle at this point to prove the business was at fault.
  6. nope. I’ve known a good number of people who tested negative for a few days after symptoms began before they finally tested positive.
  7. same. we sailed with our kid in March. Our province didn’t start doing his age group until December. He didn’t get his second shot until February so he was not eligible for a booster. we were able to test 3 days ahead for all. (We are boosted).
  8. fully vaccinated is still just two shots. The first and the second. “up to date” depends on the booster. Up until yesterday or today it was 1 booster. But it looks like there was an update and it isn’t clear to me. The way I read it it is 2 if you are eligible now. but I have no seen John clarify. It is very new info.
  9. We booked for February of next year simply because my husband had a great casino deal that was only good until May 2nd for cruises up to February. We would have preferred to go in March but the price difference was just too much and didn’t want to bank on getting another offer. ($100 pp balcony with $200 OBC and $200 free play for him. We booked an ocean view in family harbour instead because it was likely a cove balcony and I don’t like them)
  10. oMG! You are right. I’ve been reading it wrong. My brain kept seeing “charge” I’m dying. thanks for the help.
  11. Hi, We booked the Fantastica experience and it says that we get "1 free cruise charge" but I can't find any further info on it. How does that work? How much is it?
  12. I cut it off because OP specified which vaccines her friend had so the rest weren't relevant. I didnt' realize it might cause confusion. There are certainly more.
  13. Perfect. Thanks! Bonus question - if anyone can answer - can I access Terminal 3 past security if my connecting flights are out of Terminal 1 (I want to go to the spa but I arrive and depart Terminal 1).
  14. I believe I have read that that is one of the exceptions to Cheers. If one has drinks everywhere the other can buy just one CHeers package. I do believe "Drinks everywhere" is essentially the casino paying Carnival for your drink package.
  15. I mean, a couple of people have confirmed that there have been supply issues they have seen in the area not on a cruise with Dr. Pepper and other types of pop (soda?) I have personally seen supply issues with certain types of alcohol in other places. I don't think it is wild to believe. Aside from that, whatever the reason is, I don't think it is the Dream being the stepchild. Other ships having the same issues. As for the cleaning and rude staff - I was on the Dream last month. I saw staff constantly cleaning. I couldn't believe it when I came back to my room around 8pm and my cabin steward was washing down the hallway. I felt like he had a really long day. I noticed it in other places. I did not have one single rude employee experience my entire trip. I will say the Hub app had it's issues.
  16. Hi, I did not book my seats in advance. Normally I would check in as soon as I was able to 24 hours before the flights but my covid test is not until later in the day. Will I be able to check in before getting my results? I recently flew AC but I can't recall. Plus we had already paid for our seats (travelling with our child) so I wasn't i a rush to check in. I will be connecting in YYZ but for the first time I'm not stressed about it. I have a 6 hour layover. Good thing I have a lounge pass.
  17. Ugh. This is what I was wondering about. I have insurance the covers it but it considers COVID 19 an illness (and it covers cancellations due to illness) but doesn't specifically state Covid. You are the second person to say they didn't even ask to see it.
  18. Ha. Just got a memory pop up that it was 4 years ago today I left that Vancouver trip to return home.
  19. I just saw a post on John Heald's page about running out of certain types of alcohol by the end of the cruise on another ship. He confirmed they are experiencing fleet wide supply chain issues that are not limited to the cruise industry. So it's not just the Dream. And may not be simply poor management.
  20. When we got our offer years ago on our honeymoon cruise it was a phone call. I've been around the boards a few months now and it seems like people are seeing it in their cruise manager "to do list" on the Carnival site. I checked daily before my recent cruise and nothing. Some people mentioned they got an email as well but it seems it shows up in the cruise manager first (people said by the time they go to the offer, it was gone, I assume sold out)
  21. I actually didn't pick it for a cruise. I was on a course that was being held there on the top floor with a 360 view of Vancouver, it was amazing. And a little distracting. Haha. I spent almost a week there and was happy with the hotel. I did walk to Canada Place on my own though. If you get a chance, check out the Gastown District.
  22. You've got a lot of great suggestions. Someone mentioned it and I second it - if you like wine, a wine tour is amazing. Grand Pre is the oldest Nova Scotia winery and was my favourite on our tour of several. As for restaurants, Halifax has a ton of excellent restaurants downtown but my favourite by far is The Bicycle Thief which is along the waterfront. Or the sister restaurant, La Fresca on Spring Garden Road.
  23. Our was actually broken and wouldn't go all the way down in the back. I saw some people using an unused lounger for this. So it was a lot cooler with the breeze coming through. But the day we were there, it was windy so the breeze coming threw also brought flying sand. We ended up moving clamshells to one that would close all the way in the back (the people were leaving for the day and offered it to us since we were chatting with someone near them).
  24. i thought it was 1500 points. We had cheers anyway even though the casino offer my husband booked had drinks for him in the casino. We wanted to drink at our leisure.
