  1. sorry to hijack this thread, can you earn these discounted cruises or certificates by playing table games like craps/roulette and how does anyone have any idea what it takes to make their list?

1500 points qualifies you for next cruise cabin at casino rate. On the next cruise you need 1000 points to retain status. This is for discounted cabins.

Every 400 points = $100 certificate off next cruise.

2400 points = free inside select sailings or $500 trade in value

3600 points = ocean view or $750 trade in

4800 points = balcony or $1000 trade in

    1 point = $5 slots

Or $10 I believe video poker.

Tables no idea how they do points. DH had similar play to me but almost double the table points. I stick to slots, at least it's self trackable!

  2. You can't book casino rates for cruises that are over 18 months out. I wanted to book Spring Break 2019 and was told I'd have to book at going rate then call back 18 months before the sail date to see what the casino rate is.

At this point you won't get casino rates for any 2019 cruises.

Also play based discounts have to be applied to a cruise that is within 18 months of the date of the cruise the play based discount was earned on.

  3. I hope you are right about the 18 months out. I was told only 12 months. I have already used certificates on all my cruises for the next year.

I was using trade in value option and they said 18 months. If I wanted to use the free cruise it might have been shorter but they wanted to reprice the cruises I had if I used the free cruise certificate which made the cruise more expensive. It's very frustrating. We, like you, have several cruises booked. With certs already applied there really isn't much of an incentive to gamble on them as you end up playing catch up with them.

Is there a better example of " A pot calling a kettle Black"

"I stand corrected on Ovation" John&LaLa

1- the program is not terminated just vastly altered - to say it is terminated means there is no longer any program.

2- to say you can only get rewarded for 2 types of games is nonsense. I, like others here, get most of my certificate based on play on slots and games you have not mentioned.

    3- there is not a 1100 certificate or $250

It goes $100, $200, $300, $400, $500 inside cabin trade in value $500, ocean view trade in value $750, balcony trade in $1000.

4- as others have tried to explain to you the credit card has absolutely NOTHING to do with Club Royale.

5- it was no secret Ovation WAS altered to cater for more tables.

6- the information you give IS misleading as it has nothing to do with the global club royale program whilst you still claim it is

7- 1% cash back - obc is $20 for every 1000 points which on regular slots 1 point = $5 so 1000 points = $5000 so 1% is $50 . The 1% you refer to is back on your credit card that IS NOT CLUB ROYALE

8- the people you are trying to convince here are seasoned and informed members and cruisers yet you are talking to them like you are the only person in the world that has experience on a cruise or has ever gambled

9- YOU NEED TO ACCEPT YOU ARE WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. They played great today. Next Millwall. I booked the 4 day yesterday directly with C and A resolutions. I will check again tomorrow to get to the bottom of this. The booking is for the 24th for four days.

Have you managed to get anywhere today? I would certainly push for obc. Especially given past final date when you found out. Please keep us updated - do you even know who has chartered it?

P.S. Yes great game and a decent draw for the next round. Given how the last two games went I was nervous given how some of the other teams have done this round!

  6. Yes you can go with them. At the port I think they have to be wheeled on by a member of staff. Have you contacted Special Needs department? I had to list my DM for assistance. We rented a wheelchair so it was in the cabin when we got onboard. They use different chairs to get on and off the ship. If you are taking your own chair you may still want to speak to Special Needs in advance.

  7. Just returned from the Freedom of the seas. I am a diamond plus guests so I think I can speak freely with my experience, As I have always been loyal to royal.

    1. Small children allowed in both the concierge lounge and the diamond lounge. I'm pretty sure it says 21 and older. The children were crying, standing on the furniture, one actually fell off the sofa and hit his head on the table. I thought the lounge was for a pre dinner drink to relax?

    2. Apparently with the inception of the drink package, waitstaff around the pool and in the theater are hard to come by. You might find a random one or two floating around. I remember the day when I was asked by waitstaff nearly every 10 minutes if I need a drink. Not the case any more. If you want a drink, you might as well get in the line at the bar.

    3. The dining room menus looked like a rat had been chewing on the corners. Very worn and tattered. The napkins were equally worn with snags and picks.

    4. Our robes and bed sheets were stained.

    5. The ships of this size and bigger are definitely gearing towards families with children. The Dreamworks sail away, parades and photo ops made it feel like I was on a Disney Ship. Great for families but not for those of us wanting a romantic type of cruise.

    6. Forget about dress code. Anything goes in the dining room including shorts, tshirts and flip flops.

    7. Disembarking was a disaster. The lines were winding in several different directions causing the guests to argue over where it started and where to go. When you asked for help by the staff they just pointed in a general direction and said "over there". Why not set up rope with lanes so we know where to line up? It wasn't the line that bothered me but the chaos.

I wouldn't want to end this without at least giving kudos to the activities staff. They were energenic and entertaining.

That being said, looks like my next cruise might be on the sister ship Celebrity. Perhaps it will be a little more of what I'm use to and looking for. We shall see.

Re #1 children have been allowed in CL for a long time. Re DL access for children the rules have always been listed on the welcome back letter you should have received in your cabin. However having sailed on Celebrity as well I have also seen children allowed there as well at the Elite evening hours provided they are well behaved.

Re #7 I thought you got priority disembarkation as D+ did you arrange with the Concierge to meet at the priority disembarkation area or did they not offer it? I am interested as will be sailing on her soon.

  8. We (apparently prematurely), booked our flights last summer from Miami to Venice for this coming May. It was our first time needing flights for a cruise. We naively believed their "low price guarantee".

It may have been low price at the time, but the same flights are now $500 round-trip instead of $1000. They say we are "stuck" because they are non-refundable tickets. But my husband read online that we can "cancel" our reservation and receive a credit.

Has anyone ever cancelled a flight and received this credit? I'm thinking we could turn around and re-book and add my son for the same price. $1000 is a lot of money!

My understanding is the low price guarantee is based like most price match guarantees and based at time of booking. If you booked the flights at the time independently it is unlikely the airline would honor any price change now without a penalty unless you booked a higher costing fare type that was refundable to begin with.

Unfortunately when booking flights no one can guarantee what will happen to flight prices between the time of booking and when you take the flight.

There happens to be an international flight sale on at the moment. That's probably why the rates are as low as they are. I hope things work out let us know how you get on.

  9. Thanks for clarifying! The page I looked at just said "kids" without specifying an age range. I thought the 11-year-old may have been pushing it, but I must admit I thought 8 was still a child.

You are welcome. If you go to where you booked it and scroll down to terms and conditions it shows the ages for pricing in small print at the bottom.

  10. just off LOS no gift for DD, she is Diamond, she did get 2 bottles of water

LOTS LA ambassador was not the best. I had to enquire.

Ken, Abigail got a drawstring tote bag with large zip pocket. She quite liked it due to the large secure but easy access pocket. However we did have to take and exchange as it was ripped when it was delivered:rolleyes:

  11. At age 18 a child "loses" the parents' status and gets a status of his/her own, based on his/her own cruising history.

So a child (under the age of eighteen) with 69 points sailing with a parent with 200 points would be D+. However, once that child turned eighteen, that person would become emerald.

    Incorrect

That goes against everything I have ever heard about children and status transfer. I'm pretty up on things and it is my recollection that a minor child with 69 points they have earned and parents that have 200 points will be D+ and remain so when she turns 18. The caveat is that it will take her longer to attain the next level.

Agree with John. The minor keeps the status, however their points revert back to what they have earned. As example if they were Diamond by parents they will stay Diamond but would not be able to progress to D+ until they get to the required points by their own point accrual.

  12. Hi,

Within our budget is either a Superior Ocean View Room with Balcony on Harmony of the Seas or a Grand Suite with Balcony on Liberty of the Seas. I have a 13 year old son and 10 year old daughter who saw the ads with the Harmony of the Seas and wanted to do that ship. Is it worth the smaller living space for the bigger/newer ship with more to do? I struggle because my daughter and I are very active and busy travelers while my son and hubby prefer to lounge in the room.

    Thanks!

    Jenny

IMHO if you want amenities I would probably pick Harmony. I get that you could drive to Galveston making it easier, however we didn't feel wonderful after our recent LOTS sailing. It wasn't a bad cruise, but there were lots of little things that didn't make it great or memorable. Did the slides day 2. Novelty wore off after 2 goes.

If you are looking to be doing more things I'd say the HOTS has more to do. We did Allure and didn't do everything we wanted as we ran out of time! Liberty we were struggling to keep occupied. YMMV but just my opinion.

We are predominantly loyal to Royal but LOTS is the first RC ship where I have agreed with most of the negative reviews on here recently.

At the end of the day it is down to individuals preferences, what one likes does mean it please the masses and vice versa. Only you can decide what interests you have. I would recommend reviewing recent reviews of both ships to help.

  13. I was on the Liberty in November. The suite lounge was not completed during dry dock. There was not a completion date set at that time, as of then suite occupants had access to the concierge lounge which is in the middle of the ship with no windows. Still a nice area though.

At that time there were only two water slides, not three. Maybe someone who has been on Liberty in the last few weeks can clarify thiese two items. All that being said, I loved the Liberty and would book her in a heartbeat. Your kids will have plenty to do.

We were on LOTS November and suite Lounge was open. The old CL (no windows) was a card room.New lounge had windows and was situated off VCL. It was very crowded though as no card control and people were just walking in.

  14. Out of curiosity, do you get anything extra in the specialty restaurants during breakfast? When we had breakfast in Chops on the Mariner, it was only an additional sit down area with a small section for cereals and breads. We took most of our breakfast from the Windjammer and sat in Chops but that was it. Also, did you have to request for the DVD player on your cruises? We took a bunch of cartoons onboard to entertain the children but our GS didn't have the DVD player so they became white elephants LOL. I'm wondering now whether the DVD player was hidden somewhere and we didn't look hard enough.

We were recently on LOTS. Breakfast in Chops was from menu. Items like Eggs Benedict, Frattata etc. All cooked to order items. Was nice to have cooked to order but very slow service.

  15. Sorry that the lines were horrible! Was it any better because you had a suite? Was there a suite lounge for you to wait in? If so, what did they have in it??? Have an amazing trip!

Recently did suite on LOS. Suite waiting area in terminal is just seats next to D+ D area etc. No extras when we sailed just seats with signposts based on tiers and Suites.
