  1. Agreed fatPaul.

    They were told in advance,

they saw the sign's outside the restaurant,

they ignore the policy of the cruise line,

and now they have become the "victims" and the "Poor Me" scenario, with the added touch of "I don't want You to get caught also"

    What a load of nonsense.

Awful behavior, and certainly not the Cruise Lines Fault

I would be embarrassed if this happened to me, not plastering it all over Cruise Critic.

    Shame on You.

    Shame I say.

    .

The vast majority of ships allow first night flexibility as not everyone has received their luggage and unpacked by the time first seating starts.

Whilst there is a dress code, there is flexibility the first night. How many people actually board a cruise in dining code clothing knowing that it may be warm outside and have to stand through a muster and get hot and sweaty in their dinner attire.?

The OP is not stating that is what they want to wear all cruise, just the first night. It is standard across most of the ships we have been on, not just RC.

  2. If they really haven't made it clear that the 10PM departure has been in the works for a while that's kind of crappy. Last week Captain Henrik Loy on Indy gave us frequent and very informative updates when we were delayed waiting for a medical evac helicopter for a passenger.

With that said, sounds like some people need to chill

Some passengers had posted prior to today they knew it would be a late departure.

  3. Bob was going to send info about how boarding went today, and to possibly confirm freestyle on or off! I know other pax just of Liberty confirmed freestyle.

I the store thing was to check for a specific soda!

Thanks for the info. Hopefully Bob will report back soon.

  4. I don't think I have ever seen a trip review by him; does he post them to the main ship review pages? I certainly would be interested to hear his take on things for any ship he has been on.

Not sure. His posts are always insightful and factual. I agree, a trip review is needed by him. I just hope he picks up on one of the multitude of threads regarding this issue. At least Bob is unbiased, which with the way some of the threads are going may well be needed sooner rather than later!!! Some of the threads have people already being escorted off and demanding off!!!

  5. Below is the link to the Liberty of the Seas Roll Call for March 19 sailing.

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=45988600#post45988600

Thanks to "MAJAROSH" for providing detailed information on what is known so far.

Why would they get a refund? At this stage It is a delayed sailing.

Now if the problem is so big that they can't fix the problem, that's different. But at the moment they are 20 minutes delayed from scheduled departure of what I understand was 10:20.

If any changes to itinerary then they will probably get OBC.

    Ps hope they sail soon.

At this stage to say they want off (and it's not like there are an abundance of people that want off at this stage) is a little rash. They are on the ship with food, accomodation and entertainment provided. With the exception of casino and shops they have access to everything they would have at sea!

There are still too many variables in play to say what impact the delay will have, if any.

Hopefully Bob will come and give an update.

  6. You do NOT need any reservations with MTD at all...if you have a LARGE party, then yes...you should tell them when to expect you...but 2-4 people...no problem!

If you want a table for two they are a rare commodity. Everyone wants them. Don't see how you think they are two to a penny. tables for four aren't much better?

  7. I prefer Voyager class over Radiance class....especially in warm weather. Radiance class rarely, if ever, opens the Solarium roof...so no quiet tanning place!

Thank you, but I would never base my decision on whether the solarium roof opens or not... ;)

    Of the seas, I agree!!!!

    CB

If the ship is in port each day I am sure you can find a quiet tanning place somewhere;)

  8. I see you are going to the Baltic.

We did that a couple of years back. For ports (especially St Petersburg) where the vast majority of passengers are doing shore excursions that in most cases get back late, I would recommend making a reservation as there is nothing worse than getting back on board tired and waiting for a table.

We normally looked at excursion time and allowed approx 1 1/2 hours in case of delays back to ship (our coach actually broke down:rolleyes:) and to get washed before dinner without feeling rushed.

Some days after long excursions, we chose to just make use of the windjammer instead.

You can always change the reservations once onboard with no problem.

Enjoy, it is a great cruise.

  9. .....on slots, it is all about the points earned....there is no minimum bet needed. Obviously a quarter slot player must put in more time in the casino than a dollar slot player.

As a quarter slot player, i know this :O)

You need to average 300 points day or 2100 on a 7 day cruise. So, if i do not play one day, I make it up the next.

It is nice to be invited but I have met people who have made the points & advised them to find the casino royale host to sign up & they have.

You mention how slot play gets you other onboard perks like key chains, etc. but does not guarantee future rebates, etc.

Not so...if you are a club royale member... You would always get some kind of rebate plus discounts on future cruises under the old program.

I know they are going to do away with the rebates, I am just hoping they keep the great room discounts....keeps us in suites we could not normally get.

I think you are misunderstanding the point.

As clearly stated in the previous picture you need to bet $5 per spin for two hours minimum. That being said I could see how you could also qualify if you bet $2.50 per spin for 4 hours, $1.25 per spin over 8 hours etc to still get the same amount of points.

Here is where two of your points don't make sense.

Firstly, in order to achieve this, even if you are a lower better on slots it means a considerably longer period on the slots. I once was told by Club Royale that 1 point is approx $5 bet. Therefore to get 300 points per day that is approx 300x5 = $1500 per day. Yet you state that you don't need to be a high roller to do this? Your average person that has a fun budget of say $100 per day is not going to get anywhere the average of 300 points a day and to say otherwise is misleading.they certainly won't qualify for the current program that's for sure.

Secondly, where I think you have misunderstood Pompeysailor the most is that the points you get and redeem on board are used for two purposes. Everyone on board, regardless of being Cr VIP can earn those points and redeem them at the end of the cruise for onboard "gifts" However The CR will also use those points to determine whether or not you do get a rebate.

On one of my cruises the majority of slots had readers that did not work, some didn't even have them in as so many were broken. As such CR could not track all of what I had bet so when I got home I ended up with no rebate for my next cruise:mad: There is still a minimum you need to achieve for the rebate to kick in for the next cruise. You don't get a rebate just because, although you can still get CR VIP rates on cabins. Therefore that makes your final paragraph flawed.

  10. Thanks for the link - it has lots of useful information. I have requested them on many occasions but when it was mentioned it was USA and Canada only, I thought it may have changed since my last cruise.

    No problem. Glad to help

    Enjoy your upcoming cruise:D

  11. I have no idea what they heck is going on at RCCL lately, but I've HAD IT. First of all, their website is in complete shambles. I've logged on to find that my PAID FOR reservation is not showing up. I log off and log back on again, and voila, there it is. Dinner reservations that I've made and paid for are gone. Only to reappear sometimes--not all the time. Forget shore excursions. I can't even log into the program to reserve those.

Dynamic Dining? They can keep it. I want to enjoy my vacation, not schedule every minute of it.

Reserving at a speciality restaurant? The reservation says "$0" for Sabor. Great. Only after reading these boards do I find out that I'll have to pay when I get onboard. OK. That's fine. But could you please TELL me that on the reservation page so I can plan accordingly??

But today was the last straw. I called RCCL to request luggage tags. The agent told me that effective March 1, 2010 there is a $5 fee for luggage tags because everything is online now and I should print my own. I have cruised RCCL since 2010. NOT ONCE have I been charged for luggage tags.

I'm done. If this cruise wasn't non-refundable at this point, I'd cancel. Royal needs to get their act together FAST if they want to retain their client base. I'm a Diamond member, not new to cruising. I'm watching the decline in customer service, and I'm darn angry about it.

I believe that OP was saying that her specialty restaurant reservations, for which she has already paid, were missing. Confusing that with the DD concept isn't inconceivable, even for a Diamond or higher cruiser.

No single issue OP encountered is overwhelming, but I understand her frustration. RCI's websites, old and new, are a disgrace.

For all RCI tout the technology of Quantum and her sisters, they should pay more attention to what their new hot market, the millennials, have to go through to book a cruise. After all, that's the face of the company until one actually boards the ship (or calls customer service). What used to take a few clicks of a mouse now take "click on dates." wait....."pick a date range." wait....."ship class/dropdown menu" wait.... etc. Having to scroll through a description of every port to figure out the itinerary is lunacy. I don't know what they intended, but speeding up the process must not have been on the list.

I just thank the Powers of the Universe for the staff and crew once we board the ship and can leave all that behind.

I agree their technology has had issues for well over a year now. It is frustrating, especially when there is such dependence on technology in the whole process.

Actually OP clearly states they don't like DD as they don't want to schedule their time whilst on vacation. Either way, speciality dining and DD both do that. It would be interesting to know if OP has done MTD or traditional in the past, as if MTD the concept shouldn't be new to them, nor should speciality dining as that has existed for a considerable time too. My point was there is no DD on Oasis, and they could have selected a more traditional option if that was what was desired. We have had occasions where we request MTD at the same time every night because that's what suits us. We then don't have to keep track of what time we need to be where as it is the same every day.

Also the OP has stated that the reservations are sometimes showing, not that they have disappeared completely. Whilst it is frustrating, yes, but if they can be seen at times why not print out the calendar and then not stress.? When you make reservations you get an email confirmation so it should be easy to check without the need of the planner when trying to coordinate other events. We always print our email confirmations out so we know for our records.

Personally if I was that worried about my reservations I would call C&A to confirm. I actually went through this last year on Navigator. Issues with all my dining reservations as they split our party into different times. Also had issues with shore excursions not showing. They were able to send an email and send screen dumps of their system. Yes it took time, but was sorted and were even given a number for the ship to call f we experienced any issues onboard. RC know there are issues, but can only help if you ask them. The OP makes no mention of trying to resolve over the phone other than the request for luggage tags, to which they didn't like having to pay for.

I, like you, don't think any one thing, has caused the opinions of the OP, but more they have let everything bottle up and then got upset. A lot of little things can build up into something big if you let it. We have encountered this several times. But given the chance, RC will assist if asked. You just need to ask;)

  12. She has attempted to book her dynamic dining only to have it missing. Its not the dining, its the process of booking and losing it. You must not have thought outside enough..Its not about what you or she would do, its the frustration with the process...simple Maybe someone , during the booking process, sent her luggage tags on the side. Things happen to people when they are nice...

I have. If you read my following post she is going on Oasis. They scrapped DD ages ago. That's why there won't be any DD reservations now;) Dynamic Dining doesn't exist on oasis;) she needs to either make MTD reservations or select traditional dining. A pain yes, but that's why her reservations are probably gone.

At a guess she probably received email about DD, made reservations, missed the memo that it was now not being introduced, hence the confusion.
