  1. If No one orders them and complains to  person in charge of restaurants then maybe they will roll it back. But if people buy it, then they  will up charge something else.  I would rather pay a bit more for the overall dining package  than to be charged on top of what you pay. It is getting ridiculous. Yes, all lines nickel and dime but the drink package is ridiculous,  when other lines charge $55-80 a day with higher  coast limit. Pretty soon we will only get the watered down, bottom shelf  pre made cocktails on a beverage plan.  The suits listen when their profit margins may be challenged.

  2. I am shocked that the ship conitues on course and not pull into Charleston to offload injured passengers. I am sure the medical staff and suite are great, but nothing beats a proper hospital.  I hope I never have to experience this, but knowing  it can happen also prepares me to TRY to be calm in the situation.   I am shocked that the machines are not properly secured as the ship can  list.   My prayers to the injured and hope NCL looks into  making the ships more stable in high winds to reduce instances of extreme listing.

I sail on the Bliss March 2nd. I am sure the new upgrade package will most likely be in affect.

From reading this post there are a few points that I agree with.

    1. raising prices on drinks that were normally included just to have a upgrade package is horrible.

    2. I understand if you want to include a package with water, coffee and what should be a premium drink like Johnny walker blue or expensive campaign to be a extra cost. This is exceptable.

    3. I am already paying over a $1000  more the last 2 years with food quality being cut back. A different type of vacation or cruise line will be considered on my next vacation. The NCL value of what you get for your money is defiantly maxed out.

I’m paying about $1300 more for our cruise Boston to Bermuda than last two years ago and about $800 more than our Bahamas cruise out of NYC.  Nothing in life is free, and I enjoy the NCL vibe, but they are making RCL look tempting if I’m going to pay RCL prices. Time will tell. Food is subjective, I’ve always found something tasty. I’ve never found the quality of food downgraded. Will I upgrade my beverage package...depends.  Do both parties have to in a cabin?

  4. NCL is getting to be as costly as RCI.  They seem to be cutting a lot of things. If we pay  good money for a product and find the quality is not there you look elsewhere. I’ve never been on another line, but my cruise to Bermuda  is costing about $950 more this year.  Boston is my homeport so it’s convenient. But I’m hoping the Gem is as nice a cruise as last year out of NYC.

  5. Has anyone had any experience with Splash Academy  on the Gem with a child with autism? My grandson is almost 4 and non verbal. He is sweet and well behaved. He loves to play and does socialize. He’s traveled quite a bit, Disney, airplane rides and never an issue. We would love my son and his family to cruise with us. Anyone taken a young child on the spectrum on a cruise?  How was the experience? He would enjoy swimming, the arcade etc..

  6. I witnessed this on my last cruise out of NYC on the Gem. They hang out around the bar and get to chatting and mention they don’t have the UBP and viola! You’re buying them a drink!

I had that happen on my Gem cruise in July! We were sitting around the pool and my hubby got to chatting with someone who gave him some cockenbull story about their account ( including UBP) being frozen until they put more money into the account. Needless to say we made ourselves scarce.

  7. We don't mind the decor but wonder what the plans are. When we sailed on the Pride in January the officers said they were working on the plans but could not release any info. We sail again October and will ask, but hoped to read some info prior to sailing. Also, I wonder if CCL is keeping Baltimore as a home port since no schedule is posted past April 2020. We hope since it is only a three hour drive for us.

I hope they keep it as a home port. I live in Boston and while we have a seasonal port here NYC is ridiculous to park . Baltimore is longer drive but parking is better priced.

  8. I have never been on the Pride so maybe I am wrong, but I am planning to go on it next April. I have been watching some cruise vlogs and it sort of had a "museum"vibe to me. It may be beautiful in real life. People seem to love it so I may be way off.

  9. I’m trying to convince family to join us as well as my son and his family. My in laws are afraid the boat will sink or they won’t be able to sleep knowing they are in the middle of the ocean and my son thinks his kids would be bored and cruising is for “ older people” . I wish just once to get everyone to join us to see how fun cruising is.

  10. We returned from the Gem a couple weeks ago, like Jamie says "it was cold".

We loved it. Casino was a nice size for a ship that size. Loved Swing. We got thermal spa passes and the spa was great.

Don't miss the signature crepes every night for dessert in the buffet.

Only drawback was the line for the main dining room for meals. But they give you those buzzers that light up when your table is ready and we just went and had a pre dinner cocktail. Never waited more that 15-20 minutes for dinner. And loved the Grand Pacifica over Magenta dining room hands down.

    Lots of great entertainment.

My only issue is I had the worst cabin steward ever in over 100 cruises.

    Everything else was great!!!

I am on the 10th floor. I am hoping he/she is not mine. What made them the worst?
